    X3 why cross a patterdale?

I breed the dogs who are strong, healthy and work good for me, no matter if they are Bulldogs, Patterdales or what ever.
They are only for me, or some friends.
If I want to make money with them, I would take care of the dog breed, but that's not my aim.

What exactly do you use them for hunting wise?

Mainly as catch dogs on wild boar.
    Sometimes for badger.
In my area we often have dense undergrowth, so I need little dogs who are able to work there. But they must be big enough to work the wild boar.

All about the right tool for the job... Instead of having a dog thats to big for going underground, or to small to hold a hog.. Wouldn't it be strange if ppl didnt mix the 2 based on this?
Also there's some treats in BD's there's simply not hunting quality..(depending on what you hunt).. I'd say a BD/pat mix is perfect for the average hunter who hunts small to medium wild(that is, if you want something there MUST be BD in)..

I dont see how people can say " i dont like these mutts " ... but why? Mutts bred for a reason, may be as good or better for the job it was bred to do than a purebred(after all, you mix in etc a patterdale for some reason and not just for the fun of it). I know that 99.9% of mutts is NOT bred for a purpose, but do not underestimate the ones who is..

Maybe its just me, i basically like any dog that earns it feed, BD or Greyhound.

because any working dog you throw a pit into will improve the drive and power ...If you step up to larger prey they need the extra impact ...

The female (right head) is a Patterdale X APBT cross.
The sitting male is a Patterdale Terrier.
    Both have the same sire.

I have to say what is the purpose of the cross ? It was already done to create the patterdale's and if they are not up to the task of the job at hand ? Then it is time to find a different line of patts from some one that hunts their stock ! There are still some good workers out there above and below ground that do what is asked of them ! But that is just my opinion

are you dipsticks really asking (why cross them) ? because it serves a purpose . they still cross them over seas where they come from it makes sence to do so if you want what the cross will offer ( bigger stronger dogs that still have a good nose and the chance to reduce dog agression while not looseing all their hunt ability ).

Like I said you need to find a working line of patts and I am not saying that the cross was not done because it was but it sounds as if you guys are looking for a different type of working dog that already exists the bull dog I own both the best of to worlds and work them together on the same prey and get the job done ! That is above ground hunting would piles old buildings and hogs . ground one patt with a bulldog watching the whole for bolts but what I do need is a long dog for them fast critters but like I said no need to make the cross IMO
