They heal really quickly I didnt do anything to my dogs just give him a day or two off and run him on grass after that for a bit. I know they look bad the blisters just fall off. I dont know if they can get infected or anything would pay to keep an eye on them. Salt water helps to if he is up to swimming.

Did not do anything in the past other then to clean them after the walk and give them some rest, that's it.

Yes, not much else you can do, keep him off his feet for a couple of days and he'll be alright.

    The guilt is terrible lol

Same.... I had a bitch who's pads did same thing cuz she ALWAYS tried to cover up after emptying out! B4 I sent her to my buddy I jus kept her on grass or "softer" terrain an she cleared up no probs! I also used a cheap lil topical frm Wally World an it helped tremendously! Healed up n like 3 days or so at the most.

    Good luck tho!

If she was mine, I would crate her for at least seven days inside so she is off those pads the entire time. I would walk out on grass only to empty and just basically take extreme care of those feet. I would use something like healing balm in red can from most animal supply places. I would gently reintroduced her back to her spot or kennel, give her a couple of hours each time building up the time while getting those pads hard again. I would definitely use that burnt motor oil once healed all the way or tough pad (I used it worked for us) for hunting dogs. Guilt is a hard when it is your fault, don't feel bad it happens to everyone at least once.

Soak the foot in betadine/peroxide mix and apply vaseline to them.
Note: Always apply pad protector/toughener after the workout and not before the workout!

you made a mistake and learnt from it, we've all been there i had the same problem with my staff bitc just playing with a football and her chasing it didnt give it much thought at the time but i felt sh*t afterwards when i noticed! keep it clean and rested, itll heal in no time and be tougher for it.

Betadine works great, but it needs to be diluted a bit. I wondered why myself, but they seem to like to lick it for some reason. I didn't listen to my vet and it made my cat sick. But it did completely heal up a quarter-size hole on his neck in no time at all. You also should not use peroxide on a healing wound. Only use that when it is fresh and dirty. Peroxide will eat the good bacteria (or whatever it is) that is helping it to heal.

Zinc oxide cream works well. I put the dog indoors. And plus a bootie for walks (which are shorter in such cases than normally) until the pad will heal up.
