Outcrossing

Discussion in 'Breeder Discussion' started by bulldawgman, Sep 30, 2017.

  1. My bitch is a product of a half brother × half sister breeding then a brother × sister breeding. I ended up with a 87.5 / 12.5 percent split. 87.5 eli 12.5 yellow-buck. Or 3/4ths eli and 1/4 yellow- buck.
Its only her brother left. No other relatives but distance cousin's. My mentor only inbred these dogs to hold on to his cross and breed on it. Imo they are to tight. If i outcrossed her to a cousin that is consider ( pure ) yellow-buck would that be a outcrossed breeding. She is 5 generations removed from the (pure) yellow-buck dogs. The stud is heavy machobuck.

I first would find out how many cold or non started bulldogs are in that Machobuck stud.

Are you trying to breed a better bulldog or just see on papers more of one name?
If you are going to breed dogs then at some point you will have to out cross.
But even then you can go back into what you fed already.
I would and have bred both line bred & in bred with many of dogs. Just make the full breeding and also a sandwich with another & bring them back together.
Concerning about a single breeding is like a fighter trying to win a match with just one move & one punch.
    Some examples:
    Cousins

    Full Bro/sis

Breeding both last breeding's together, Now 1/2 bro/sis based on female Francis one one

and lastly making the " sandwich based on two breeding's" taking 2 pups from one breeding and putting another in the middle.
    The sandwich.

It should never be a either or thing . Do both & see what turns out the best & make them the bread to the sandwich .

Too many ways to breed same dogs .I would focus more on breeding better dogs than sticking with single families.

  6. To answer your question...no thats not a outcross. A outcross is breeding to another bloodline. You stated your dog is a quarter yellow buck, so breeding to a yellow buck dog is still in the family. Also your percentage is a little off. 87.5 is more then 3/4 and 12.5 is less then a quarter
