I think that by "contract" is meant the verbal agreement between the two parties involved. I would hope no one is stupid enough to involve actual paperwork.

"sign your name on the dotted line!" lol...nah,u know what i mean a verbal agreement....in order for a paper contrct, you would typically have to know who you were going into and most of the time folks would just know the weight....

OTC for me was as AGK said, people talking sht or I wanted to play but at the particular time in life didn't have the time to condition a dog. I beat Cardenas camp with this one and it was because of heavy sht talk

So according to your way of thinking Ch Butkus 4xW 1xGL could have won one more match and become a Gr Ch??? Smh wrong it dosent work that way and never has. Butkus didnt have work on him and was used as a replacement on a Match that had a WEIGHT and DATE locked in with a FORFEIT. Even though he didnt have work because of those 3 criteria he recieved a real loss that knocked him out of gr ch contention for the rest of his life. If it was the other way around and he would have won i gurantee he would be grch Butkus and not ch Butkus 4xw 1xw otc.

u made my point for me..... what did they do with butkus? and what was the outcome? THATS why you dont do that shit, i mean......im sure someoene COULD, and im sure a few HAVE... but that doesnt make it common practice.

The only time OTC's should not matter is if there is differences in the dogs. If there is a ton of weight then the W really does not amount to anything. If one dog is conditioned and the other is not then the W does not carry a lot of weight. If both dogs are truly unconditioned, the same weight, mature dogs, then all is equal. The only thing a contract match does is make sure all things are equal or better said, the opportunity for being equal is there. Contracts just give both camps the time to make sure all is equal. OTC when all things are the same there is no difference between the two. S

WRONG!! There is a HUGE difference, and that's why the true dogmen don't waste their time with OTC matches. It doesn't count period, if it did Barracuda would be double grand champion Barracuda.

I look at OTC like I look at any other dog. Who and what did they overcome? There are dogs I would do backflips to get their offspring that have never left there yard. There are dogs who have won multiple times that you couldn't pay me to feed anything off them. I hate coping out and saying this, but it is all relative. Just to give you insight to my thinking, or lack there of, I will ask a question. How many did Dime, Roughhouse, Frisco, Tab, etc win? I look at contract winners, OTC winners and any other dog with some claim behind their name with a skeptical eye. More important to me than the numbers and letters behind a dog's name is the person/persons saying it. Is a dog that one five OTC's a grch? Of course not, but Joe Blow's roll dog down the street could have whipped that legit champ and all his opponents in the same day.

I agree with you. A dog with an OTC win may be better or his win may hold more merrit than an actual contract winner. By no means does this give you any right to call his otc win anything other than an otc or call the contract win anything less than a contract win. That is also why i feel it should be specified what type of win a dog has ie(2xw 1xotcw)

Im most in agreemend with Tigerboy5 posts.
A otw can proove more then some conditioned dogs did back then. we know of several of them from the past. one of them was a 1xw(conditioned) that got 2 in a row against contracted dogs who took the forfit.
a new contract show was made on the same day and this bitch won.. 6 weeks later the aczackt same ting happend!!. sins she was put on contract, but was taken Of The Chain into conditoned prept dogs with a ref and rules. she made ch!!. the fact non lasted longer then 30 min made her performance iven more impressif.
Then there was another one who had beaten up at least 10 dogs . yet in his only contracted show where it whent horrible wrong, being let douwn and gotten 2 forfits in 5 months and a 3e contract right behind the last forfit . This dog was in constand training for nearly 7 months. needles to say he was as stale as a dog could be and lost in a very game matter. yet he wil be rememberd as this 1xl. nobody wil talk ore remeber the 10 ot outings befor him.
There are many aczamples of good and great dogs who for some rezens could not be conditoned yet where put on contract anyway..
as most post show there are many variables posible some have merrit some are meaningless. one thing tho , those dogs did not know wtf contract ore otc was!!. they gave it there best everytime...
The same merrit on contracted dogs can be questiond in a topic as wel.. plenty of bs that whent around. It thepended on who,s name was atachst to it and what you saw with your own eyes back then...... the most impressif aczample was from a old dogman called""old Adams"" he had 6/7/8 iven a 9xw. He had a treadmill with a electric cattle wire on the end of his treadmill to make the dogs walk. people back then said wel this old guy is bush league. then a respecteble old timer in the groop said. you try to win 9 in the bush league son!!! when your 72 years old!.. On Old adams yard there was a toothless roll dog who never quit . he was used 72 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. his compleat frond end was white yet he was a black dog!!.. They didnt knew his pedigree. but if they would have.Im sure every swinning dick in the field back then would have bred of off him.. 1xw/2xw/3xw 1xl/2xl/3xl CH GRCH OTC. POR ROM . its al relatif
they can al be compleat worthles ore mean the world...

  19. There appears to be a number of definitions for "OTC" that folks are using. There are Dogmen out there who don't view "OTC" as a "win" or "lose" concept. To them, "OTC" is a tool to measure degree of gameness.
