I'm glad ya posted this thread because I was just looking at the flyer on the ADBA site.

I really want to go, and it would be my first show. I have a question though, may sound stupid...

I know my pup has to be older to do weightpull and I'mg oing to get her into that (if she likes it) when she's older, but for showing, can she enter at 4 months and 2 weeks old?

Are there different classes for different aged dogs?

edit- Actually on the 27th she'll be 5 months old so the time she show is she'll be 5 mos 1 day ;)

  12. no she is way to young for weight pulling if ANYTHING you should be walking her around getting her used to the harness with a milk jug at the end. for the conformation classes yes there is different age groups. come down it will be fun and you will learn things the RIGHT way!!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to shadyridgekennel again.

Oh yeah I know she's way too young for weight pull, I was just stating that when she gets older I'd like to see if she likes it.

I'm curious as to a couple of things, maybe you can help?...

    - Are pups her age supposed to have more of a plump puppy look or be more conditioned? reason I'm asking is because she's basically all muscle but most of the pups I've seen her age are either like that plumpy puppy look or lanky.

    - What about the teeth examining part of judging? Puppys are always losing baby teeth and growing adult ones in, so I'm sure they take that into consideration right?

IYHO, based on the pics in my gallery and the ones I'm posting in this thread (which were taken this morning) does she look descent? She really has to be seen in person to see how pretty she is, and in the pics her color may look different because of lighting, etc. She really is a solid chocolate rednose.

    Thanks

  14. it really depends on the judges as to how conditioned a pup should be. by the pics you posted it looks like you take alittle off but not much at that age.right now Deacon is 7 1/2 months and iam just starting to get some pupy fat off of him.and about the teeth yes they take into consideration with the new teeth coming in

Yeah I figured they'd have to if they had a puppy group, because with puppys you know how it is, they'll have like one adult canine just coming in, another with nothing there, front incisors grown in, others loose, etc etc lol.

I could definitly take some fat off of her if I wanted because right now she eats a sh*t load. She eats Nutro Max large breed puppy. Now before I get flamed for giving her "Large breed" let me explain why. I got her large breed puppy because on the bag they consider large breed above 50lbs. Both of her parents were bigger than 50lbs. Also, I didn't get the controlled growth formula, I just got the regular large breed puppy.

She also goes running/hiking with me at parks, plays with our dogs, plays tug of war, and will soon be able to use her spring pole I'm making once I finish it. I cemented a 4 x 4 into the ground and now I just have to bolt a 2x4 over the top and another 2x4 cut on a 45* angle to brace it, then hang a tire innertube and her rope.

  16. ok but i would get her off the large breed food she dont need it and that IMHO is a shit food!!! try timberwolf organics. thats what we feed and its good stuff!

Isn't it a pain in the ass having to order food online and have it shipped though everytime you need more food?

I mean, I am willing to do that if it will in fact increase my girl's health, looks and performance.

I did have her on Blue Buffalo company food which was a premium food and she liked the taste of it but it gave her REALLY loose stool. Almost like diarheria. And with the Nutro Max, she actually eats it. Lots of other foods she wouldn't eat.

Also, what is this Canidae food it seems like almost everyoen on these boards feeds their pets?

Canidae is good stuff, i've been feeding my dog that for like 5 months now and he's looking better than ever, plus u can find it at local feed stores

  19. nop we have the feed store order it for us!!!! go to where you get your food and see if you can get them to stock the food

My local stores are basically Petco and Petsmart so I'll have to check it out. What about stool texture after starting Canidae, compacted/normal/loose/diarrheria/etc?

Oh well that's pretty convenient. What food do you think is best for a 4-5 month old puppy?

Another part of the "showing" comps. I wasn't clear about was what type of leash/collar do you use for your dog at the ADBA events? Do you need one of those show slip collars or your regular belt buckle collar with their tags? No tags allowed?

I just went to, well tried to, go to the adba website to get more information about the show and the site must be down. It keeps saying the page cannot be displayed. www.adba.cc is what I put into my browser and normally it works.
