  4. the stb and the apbt would be the same if the stb was not bred as a show dog.
the kangal and octo are both working dogs and are still worked.
They are the same type..regardless of the area they were bred..herding dog?
them sheapards dont herd sheep with dogs.they walk em on with a kane.
the dogs are used to protect sheep from wolves.not herd them.(though ive no doubt some will herd)
in a classification of dogs.ide class the octo and kengal with a dozen or more other breeds used the world over to protect sheep from wolves and robbers.
some in diffrent areas have diffrent coats and are different sizes and such, but they eptimo the same type of dog used by sheapards the world over since before the birth of Christ.
I suppose they should be called Flock Garding breeds.

As a group im talking here lol.btw.

i belive that the ancesters of these dogs came with the Celts long before the Celts were settled in Britain.but then again,i could be wrong?as they may well have came with the Phonicians..
however there is enough evidence for me to suggest that this sort of dog is the real Molession dog of the Molession people.werther the Celts or Phonicians had them first and thats were the Mollesions got them from is open to question.
but the Mollesion people were know to have the best race of these dogs.
The Romans make many refrences to the Mollesions and this type of dog.

Today they be bred along diffrent lines for diffrnt things..like some might still be used to kill wolves while in other places they may be bred for garding the house or even fighting.
but there all from the same group catogoricly ide say.

    All the best.

wut? celts have nothing to do with kangal, kangal is much more likely to be something descending from ancient hearding dogs that existed on grounds of asia and middle east.

And where did the Celts come from? They were a collection of Indo European tribes from as far away as Russia, Greece and northern middle eastern territories.. The early Celts migrated north and west, settling in Italy, Spain, France, Britain and Ireland, hence King Robert the Bruce of Scotland stated in his letter to Pope John XXII in 1320 how his people haled from upper Scythia. I don't know much about Kangals, but I heard King Robert's dog was a bastard on the English haha!

Like all history mate, there's always more than one version, but the Celts were an ancient nomadic people, Scythia extended as far as Afghanistan and knights from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England fought in the Holy lands during the Crusades.

being indo eurpean=/=having anything to do with turkey
turkish people have nothing to do with celts (they are in small asia, not northern asia that is thousands of kilometers seperated) and dogs like sindh mastiff and Aksaray Malaklisi have existed well before ancient greece rolled around, we even know about them since alexander the great imported those dogs back home.

And these big hairy dogs were one of there dogs.
the other they were famed for was another big hairy beast but more of a Greyhound in 'Type'.
perhaps/most likey the ancester of the wolf and deer hound.

    Spot on you are boss..
these dogs can be traced from the migration from southern Russia.

    Pastoral dogs mate.
the Celts are responsible for many hardy breeds of sheep imo.

In the declaration of Arbroath 1320 King Robert of Scotland tells told the pope his people came from Scythia and that region stretched as far as Afghanistan and further.. You can't say where the Celtic peoples came from because their origins predate history, but The declaration of Arbroath 1320 is a historical document that's a whole lot closer to pre history than you or I sir! I can't say where Kangals originated, truth is I couldn't give a fuck! But neither can you discount Celtic origins outside of Europe, because you don't know.. There's a map of Scythia on the link I posted, one region on that map refers to Afghanistan.. Don't underestimate the Celtic peoples man, the romans couldn't even do that!

and i am not, celts likely had some sort of sheep guarding breed breed that was similar to caucasian shephard, much the same way vindolanda had dogs similar to modern pitbull.

but kangals are authentic turkish breed, they could not survive up the north as they are not made for that.
