Since when is it cruel to have your dog work a springpole? Today, some old lady came up to me and said and I quote "you're a moron, how would you like to have all your weight supported by your teeth?!?!?! it is because of people like you that there are so many pitbulls in the shelters ready to be destroyed." She claims to have been rescuing and placing "pitbulls" for 20+ years. I said to her and quote "no wonder why our breed is in such a state that it is in. When you are trying to keep your dog in shape by conditioning it, stupid idiots like yourself come out of no where and make ridiculous claims of cruelty. I'm guessing each and every dog you've placed are probably sitting in some shelter getting ready to be euthanized, or are in the hands of people that knows jack shit about them and making the responsible enthusiasts look bad." This supposed "expert" left my premises and kept on screaming at me to try and work the springpole for myself and see how I like it. I'm sure if I was an apbt or any dog, I'd LOVE IT LOL.

id be carefull if i was you, hide you sdj's tidy the yard up and be ready for a visit. no matter what you have they can twist it around to make it look like you are a dog fighter. these sorts of people thrive on making your life hell so be prepared.

regardless of what i do with my dogs they are never in the public eye unless im walking. being somewhere open where you can be seen is asking for teouble.
    keep us posted.

Yeah, I got the yard cleaned up and all dogs are inside the house now in crates. I'm prepared for a visit sometime this week. Also got the springpoles, flirtpoles, etc. at my friend's house so I should be fine.

    i say your both dumb!

IMO, she's dumb because she obviously cant keep to her self, and i personally cant stand folks like that.

    but on the flipside,

your not too bright by havin your dog support its weight with its teeth on the springpole (if the lady's accusations were correct, if not i apologize).
the proper use of a springpole is designed to have ATLEAST the back to legs able to touch the ground (i personally like all four touching when pulling), having them work it while hanging is very dangerous. just ask what happened to honeybunch.

  7. Laced are you stupid or what?
Do you even know what a pitbull is?
How the hell is he going to participate in a long hanging event if he touch the ground.

    Is this guy for real?

  10. You made 2 mistakes. The first was to answer back and the second was to work your dog in plain view, bringing on the first mistake.

What's the point in a hanging event anyway???? Who cares my dog can hang longer than your dog.......the whole point is to strengthen the dogs bite. I'm personally a fan of the set up being low to the ground and horizontal cause this will work the muscles used in catching more than one hanging but both are good. But seriously, what does it prove?

  12. Oops I forgot. I'm not in South Africa. Seems that you guys know everything better.
Whats the use of doing anything for that matter.
Why should we be working our pitbulls in the shadows like criminals.

I have no suitable response that falls under the forum rules...........if it makes you feel like you have a real working dog cause it hangs from a rope on a tree, more power to you. It's your dog..........

all he was saying is a dog does not get a workout when they are hanging in the air. So if the OP was conditioning his dog all he would be conditioning was the neck and also it is dangerous for the dog to be suspended in air. if the hind legs are on the ground it works almost everything, neck, mouth, back, and back end , and the front end if they touch the ground when pulling. So overall this is safer and a more complete workout.

  17. In that case I humbly ask for your forgiveness. And in my own language:
    Ek is baie jammer.:dogtongue::)

  18. The thing is I really am sick and tired of feeling like a criminal whenever I spend time with my dogs.

No, you misunderstand me, buddy... I just wanted to know if you were serious. There have been dogs die from hanging in the air from a springpole... that's why one poster said research how Honeybunch died. She broke her neck falling from one.

  20. Ok I will take this up with some of the guys I know. Cool gotta go home now. Its about 16:28 where I'm at.
