Thats what i got last night. My neighbor has a pitbull/boxer mix and he keeps getting out of the fence. well yesterday evening at about 8:30pm he got out. And was in the chainspace of my female. I know that he has been getting out because the other day there was fresh pee on my tire of my truck and my dogs cant get to my truck. anyway he was loose so i went across the street and let them know and they called him and he went into the house, and my neighbor then tells me that he is fed up with him and said that i should shoot him if he gets loose again, which i will not do. And the only reason I will not shoot him is because i get along with my neighbors daughter, she fed my dogs when we went on vacation, and i dont wanna upset her by killing her dog. A stray would have gotten shot a long time ago. So after my neighbor tells me that he will be getting him fixed shortly, he thinks that will stop him from breaking out. I informed him that he should get a chain set up like i have, because i have the same problem with my female she will break out any fence or kennel that i put her in.

So we went to bed and its about 11:30pm and samson is whining and going nuts in his kennel. I get my flashlight and there is the neighbors dog with my female again. so i call the neighbor and get the answering machine. no help from them. So to make a long story short I bring in Dena and put her in a crate for the night and after chasing the dog out of my yard again, he crosses the street and sits down right by the road and just looks at my yard, like saying "ha ha you cant get me". man, that pissed me off. then i couldnt fall asleep so now i am running on "low fuel" all day.

My question is What do i do next, if this continues?

    sorry for the long post....

If you get along with your neighbors and the dog under ordinary circumstances, I try to would "Help" him install the correct set-up to contain his dog. Show him what you've done and walk him through the process.

If you like the neighbor, and dont want to hurt the gurls feelings by shooting the dog, I would put up a chain set up and chain the dog up myself. Either that, or get some rat shot for a .22 and shoot the dog i9n the butt, it wont kill the dog, but it will sting it, or, you can load some rocksalt in a 12 guage shell, that'll light em up also. I have been shot a few times as a kid with rock salt, it aint too funny!! We'd have to soak in a bath tub to let the salt desolve;very painfilled moments!!

I do have some rat shot for my .22 but i was worried about seriously hurting it. how close do you think i could get with teh rat shot with out causing serious injury.

Oh, I want to say 6', but I'll say 10 just to be on the safe side. As long as you dont shoot the dig in the head, it'll be just fine. The problem with the head shot is shooting the eyes.

If I were you I would get a 12 gauge and blow the dogs brains out....

Just take the dog to A.C. or call A.C. out. Don't shoot the dog because wounding an animal is cruel if you are not going to kill it. And unfortunately, chances are if something should happen (A.C. finds out) you will be charge with animal cruelty unless you can prove the dog was endangering your family....being a nuisance doesn't count.

Is the dog friendly? Maybe he could just "disappear" to the shelter or something. Its a kinder fate than being hit by a car. (The really mean-spirited side of me says put a male dog on your female's chain spot one day and let him come investigate like normal. Thankfully I usually keep that side bottled up.)

everyone thanks for the replys. He is friendly when he is at his house but when on my property i cannot get close to him the closer i get the farther he runs but is barking and growling the whole way, like he is scared.

And to tell the truth after bringing in Dena(female) i did put samson(male) on a leash and let him chase the mutt out of my yard, I wanted to let him go but with the highway right there i didnt want my dog to get hit. He was ready too.

Well this is what i have planned. When i get off of work i will go to the neighbors and show them the proper set up and offer to go and get one with them and set it up. But, if they dont want to do it or say they will do it on there own and he gets loose again, I have something worked up just for him. I will leave Dena on the chain, and take samson into the house with me and when he comes back we are gonna "take out the garbage".

See my yard used to be totally fenced in but a hurricane demolished a garage so now there is about a 30 foot gap in the fence. when i close the walk gate it kinda makes a corral. one way in one way out. and with samson in the house we can block him from escaping if you know what i mean. will keep everyone posted on the outcome.
hope it does not come to this but, thats what my dog was bred for....

    Thanks for all the replies...

In that little spot where the fence used to be, you can run a cattle electric fence, and when the dog hits it, it wont come back! The rat shot wont leave an open wound. A pellet gun will leave a wound but the rat shot wont. It wont even become imbedded at 10' distance, it'll just sting pretty good!!

I got a friend of mine that runs a fox pen, and he uses the .22 rat shot to shoot his dogs and the coyots when they begin to fight. Wounds niether one!!, just stings.

I didnt even think of that. I actually have a hotwire box and a bunch of wire, being as i live in my great grandparents old farm house... good thinking. might try the rat shot too.

LMFAO. that is exactly what kept running through my mind. That and the owner. Put one in him. Problem solved. Liking his daughter is one thing but putting up with mutts in your yard is bull shit. I like things too just not in my damn yard. Shoot it and get rid of it. Or take all your yard waste and dump it on his hood every day till he puts that mutt on a chain. I go with the brains shot myself though, faster, easier, and perminantly fixes the problem. Or you could tie the dog to his door handle on his house and toss a bag of yard waste through is front window. that will get his attention and when he opens his door to figure out where it came from he will find his mutt.

Finally, i will be able to rest in peace now that i have an opinion from the great ATTILA. I appreciate the way you cut to the chase and get to the point. your opinions are always welcome around me. Although I am a little slower to "start" than you, he will have ONE more chance, because its not the dogs fault he has a dumba$$ for an owner. But you can rest assured if it steps foot in my yard again they will never find the body...

Um yea, that cattle fence hurts, the dog wont come back after that. We used it for a while where our gate is. Ozzy used to jump the fence all the time at the gate, so we ran some across the top. Well, about 2 days after we put it up, I put the dogs out and went inside to wash some dishes. Well, they start carrying on, so I holler at em to hush it! And they do, well this happens 3 times and by now I'm fed up, its dark, getting late, and they need to be quiet. So I go storming outside, fling the gate open, take a step and ZZZZAAAPP! I'm on my ass! It wasnt so much that it hurt(it did, but was tolerable) but it scard the hell outta me! I had on a tank top so I had this little red line across my chest for a half hour or so. We took it down after that! It is very effective though!

LOL Actually I was just going along with Black Caeser on this one with the shoot it. He is a good man in my book. You are too.

But you are right it isn't the dogs fault it never is. But that doesn't change the fact it is pissing on your tires and getting in your yard pissing on everything and dumping in your yard. Maybe be the mutt that breeds your dog if you let it go on. Or gives it some virus or desease, bringing parasites and parvo into your yard. I don't like to shoot them either but I have to. It cost me way to much money not to shoot them. Really that owner needs his ass kicked too. I still would send him a shitogram first. I like to give one warning, one stern warning with a little physical interaction the second time and shotgun or rifle for the dog, cat or what ever and a real physical correction for the owner the third time. I don't take pleasure in shooting the dog. cats and the person ya I admit I take great joy in that. I laugh just thinking about Leon on the corner last week. It was his sixth ass woopen at least for stupid shit. This time not for his dogs killing my chickens but because he spun a rock into my 65 truck and put a peck in my glass. You would think he would learn or move.

lol, I can't tell ya how many times I got zapped as a youngin by the horse fence at my grandma's. I learned not to touch it, but sometimes when a horse rears up while you're walking it near the fence, or a goat decides it wants to wrestle with ya (one of my favorite past times as a kid) it just happens, lol. And those invisible fence collars shock almost as bad....

Speaking of hot wires I was at Ghost 1 house the other day and got nailed by his a few times. he has one top and bottom and it keeps his three bitches in. I just wish I listened and drank less moonshine to remember he turned it back on. lol Those things really hit. I have some too for the sheep. I think I will run one around the whole farm for fun. lol[IMG]
