I was just wondering if anybody has ran into somethinglike this. Someone gives you a dog and it has no paperwork, but this animal turns out to be your cup of tea. Would you incorporate the animal into your breeding program or not. Again this is a very superior animal at least above average and better than alot of papered stuff. Just wanted to know some of your views. Kinda got my own opinon....

Gr.ch 35 wasnt a good producer, and since they didnt really know how he was bred himself they didnt really know what to breed him too or what would work well with him. That could be one reason why he didnt produce as good but on the other hand he just could of not been a good producer because his bloodline could of been very scattered or even mixed for that matter since they didnt know exactly how he was bred or it could be just he himself was an exception to the rule of his line and the rest of his line was just crappy curs, thats why knowing one's bloodline is also important as well...I know papers dont make the dog its the dog that makes the papers but in breeding its not depended only on just that one individual dog and his accomplishments but more so on what he and his whole bloodline has done.

Well, that's it in a nut shell.

35 could well have been the result of some kind of unplanned "hybrid vigor". Just as when you save and plant the seeds of some delicious tomato you didn't know was a hybrid, you'll get all kinds of different types in the F1 generation, not the delicious tomato you wanted.

Given the length of time from a dog's conception, to point where it can accurately be evaluated and proven as a prospect - a matter of some years, you'd never live long enough to sort out a mistake.

So would you take a chance and include it in your program or not, and just say for instance the dog and the offspring produce would you continue the program based off thes breedings even though you dont have the paper?

there's probably a few bloodlines that ain't what the appear to be on paper. if the dog is a earns his chain spot it will stay if it shows it can produced it say longer.

i would have bred him... not into my program but i would have bred him. I whould not have bred his off spring back in to my yard but i whould have bred him. I would have tried him with different stuff to see what i get.... and if I found nothing then i would have just kept him as long and he could "work" then made him a house dog if he was suitable.... breeding is a gamble as is.. it would be stupid IMO not to try him and see what you get. especialy a dog of his caliber.

because it's a good dog doesn't mean, it's mean that it will produce good or that it's right for you....so in the spirit most did what they knew and stayed away from him....

why would you breed to him?

Why not breeding? It is a gamble, perhaps you have luck. The chance is small, but for me it would be worth a try.

  12. Heard it only takes one wrong dog to ruin a yard, to do this like a side project.

Of course you have to select hard, probably more hard then with the other dogs.

i wouldnt risk my breeding program but when you have a dog oc that caliber you really dont have a choice but to test him out. I would prob try him out with a few bitches i had to see if anything turned out. even if it did i wouldnt add them into my breeding program but i might have two programs in my yard lol. You dont pass up on 1 in a million dogs

    Tough question.

If I did breed the dog, then I would keep the stock solely for myself, and see how it turns out, though, honestly, I guess you should do that anyway.

I think anyone that would not at least try a breeding or 2 with a dog of that caliber needs to check and make sure there head is on right.lol...If it does'nt work..Oh well..Wont be the first time a breeding did'nt turn out..

I had a dog named Little Man. He was nearly everything you can ask for in a dog. He had no papers. I paid $1500 for him and I had every intention on breeding him even though he had no papers. Papers are important to me but their not everything.

I wouldnt its already a risk

And breed him is kinda like stacking the deck against yourself
its already 50/50 chance of good and bad

breeding him would change the odds to 25/75

Knowing ones parents are a good blueprint but yet and still if you see a dog go and like him get it i say fu(k papers. An as for producing how can you not know what to take to a dog a [winner of course] i think alot more people now days are breeding papers a good producer will produce bred to a collie he might produce better too a certain bitcht. all that my stud only produces to jeep/redboy dogs or a buck dog thats bullshit your stud sucks balls at throwing fire ill take my bitch elsewhere breed best to best if it doesnt work move on no sense in crying over spilt milk. sheesh
