New APBT on the block.

Ok so I have been doing about 5 months of research on my pups pediagree.. i still don't know sheet! ur right, From what I can see he is tonka red barron/little Gator/Chinaman.. Im new to this though. I got the previlge of housing the parents, seen the tie, the birth, the whelping and got my pick. In fully aware of what i have and that's hes game breed dog that is going to have drive through and through and he will need extra Excercise and a good way to channel it, So accidents to not happen. I know what I have.. And have 2 years of hands off experience with his dad.. But he wasn't mine and didn't raise him, now I am. And i know what he's not a dog I can not take to a dog park, even with socializing, I know as soon as a dog that makes him feel a little threatened on meet, if other dog doesn't back down he will flare up, so I won't put him in thous situations.. Ok so what i need is someone to digest his pediagree a little more for me.. i need someone to give me first hands experience on how weight pulling works. Sorry for long thread.. I have more ilk let u digest that.

You didn’t get any of that info in the 2 yrs you housed someone else’s dog?? How was it a privilege if all you got was a pup you know nothing about? You need to do a lot of reading on past dogs and dogmen.... a lot.... Read the history section on here and google the dogs you read about. Then google their parents, brothers, uncles, aunts, nieces, grandparents... Then keep doin that over and over

Not many are going to give “first hand” knowledge of what you can read up on from old first hand. Sports don’t change, only the rules and players. Good luck

 

Welcome Bender! I am new to game bred dogs, and am very much in the stages c_note mentions above. I don't yet own a game bred dog, just researching, researching, researching right now. I still get what dogman bred which dog and then sold him to another dogman to get titled, etc. etc., confused. A good place to start IMHO would be to research individually, every dog in your boy's pedigree. When you have a question about something ask, if you find something interesting, share.
This venue is a very tight knit group and I think us noobs have to "prove" to the members that we are in it for the right reasons before we are given the keys to the kingdom. Part of that is paying our dues and doing the legwork on the history of the dogs and dogmen of the past, working down to present day.
I'm curious about your dog's lines too, so I'm going to do some digging, as I know very little about "Little Gator". Feel free to compare notes with me.

 

You don't need anyone to do your research for ,you will learn more if you do it yourself.And you still can't depend on this knowledge you learned from your dogs pedigree as written in stone.None the less if you want to know a pedigree put in your own research its not rocket science.Most people won't help you because they don't have the time or even care about how your dog is bred.Pencil and paper and go to work.You really don't know a family of dogs just by the pedigree.Lots of hands on knowledge and eyes go into this .One day maybe you can put the whole picture together.

Yea that's what's i do every night for the past 5 months is read on his ancisters.. I just seen someone digest a pediagree in a forum, like for instance, dam is 50% little gator 20% is tonka red barron. Top half is 50%chinaman etcccc. That was just an example of something I seen someone do for someone on a forum
