MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police rescued several dogs from a Whitehaven home. They say the animals were being used for dog fighting.

Neighbors said they watched officers and animal control round up about two dozen pit bulls and puppies at house on West Emory in Whitehaven Thursday.

A man at the home was also arrested. Herbert Tyson, 56, is facing several charges of animal cruelty and aggravated animal cruelty.

Police said they found several dogs outside the home that were malnourished and had injuries consistent with dog fighting.

They also found a litter of puppies and a female dog inside the house.

Neighbors told us they know the dogs were being taken out of the state for dog fighting, and said they were being denied food to make them more vicious.

Police said they also found drugs inside the home.

Tyson is being held on $30,000 bond.
