Good job, can be more than a task for even a grown man. yeah, like the other guy said... you wanna keep on eye on her around other dogs. It was normal behavior, so he will be the calm one. if your behavior has changed since then he's probably wonderin whats wrong with you lol

great job nell, it sounds you did manage the situation the best you can.
accidents happen, and I'll be the first to admit that.
you just can't be on your dog 24/7 so yeah, sooner or later shit might happen...

hell my dog (rip) was thetered with a tie out (those metal cords thingy's) never would I have tought he would bite trough it in a matter of seconds, but he did and in no time he was on top of a sharpei on the street...

take it as a lesson learned and try to be more vigilant... it's all you can really do... ;)
don't beat yourself for this one, I bet we all had a few accidents at some point or another!

Not yet. It needs to stay open. We are having the blizzard of the century, but I plan to take her to the vet Tuesday to make sure it is healing properly. She was already on antibiotics so that is taken care of.

** I did call the vet yesterday and they said what I was doing to take care of it was appropriate.

I am also in the petite and older catagory. :) It can happen to the best of us. Once I left a male in the truck and damned if he didnt stand on the window button and let himself out to go after another one of my males.
I had hell on wheels by myself too. You did a good job.

Thanks to everyone for the words of support!! Once I got out of panic mode and followed the instructions I received here, I was amazed at how well it worked! However, nothing beats making sure it can't happen.

I normally have her tied off to the seat in the car as an extra precaution as you never know when you might get pulled over by the police and I would hate for them to mistake her friendliness for aggression. I won't neglect that step ever again.

    Great job Nell!

My neighbor's dog got in a mix up with my dog and he was scared to even reach in for his own dog. Considering his is more than a foot taller, 15 years younger and probably 100 pounds larger than you, I'd still rather have you on my team when tshtf.

Check that box on your experinace chart.

Sounds like you did everything right for this being your first one, I am actually surprised you got it broken up as fast as you did with it not only being your first time, But you having asthma, You being so small and having a dog that is bound to be big and the other dog being a bulldog.

Sounds like you learned good lessons there and you will be able to implement them should t happen again....And more often than not it does. If I was around you I would give you a pat on the back for a job well done.

Well, Nell got 2 staples from the incident and she is looking good with no infection.

I took the rescue for a walk today and he went crazy when he saw his reflection in the chrome bumper of my friend's van. He seached around and under it looking for the 'other' dog LOL! He hates every living thing that isn't a human being....

He has absolutely no human aggression but we will make sure he only goes to a very experienced dog owner. At least he taught me a lesson....

Great job Nell. Your experience will help someone. I've never been alone and had to break up an accident and if it ever happens I'm sure this post will pop up in my mind.
