I give my dogs interceptor(milbemycin oxime) monthly for worms and also Advantix for ticks and fleas. Today i took a dog in for yearly exam/ shots and she gave me Drontal K9. Is this necessary? I thought the interceptor would take care of worms?

i don't know much about the interceptor, but drontal is a broad spectrum wormer.....maybe she was just trying to cover a wider span and help to keep them parasite free. wish i could be of more help.

drontol is a dewormer , the vet might have found worms in your dogs stool..

sometimes the dogs get worms from other dogs, like hookworms and roundworms..

the interceptor treats most worms , but sometimes not all..

    drontal:
removes all gastro-intestinal worms including tapeworms, hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms (in dogs.)

    interceptor:
prevent deadly heartworm disease, while protecting your dog against roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum) and whipworms (Trichuris vulpis).

  4. how old is the dog... i deworm puppies once a month with a broad spectrum dewormer i get at a local store and works great from weaning to age of 1 after that i deworm every 6 months whether they have signs of worms or not , usually by the time they have signs of worms there is some sort of damage inside your dog that can come back and bite ya on the bumm when the dog is older,, during the very hot season not knowing what my dopey girls have gotten into , i keep even more careful eye on them.. they are happy girls but the wildlife around here seems to be fairly easy to hunt and the carnage in the back yard is like world war three... dead bodies all the time and whats worse .. sometimes only heads... uh umm ewe.. so they stay indoors as much as possible till the mating season for birds and whatever is over and the wildlife dies down...my vet knows im very experienced with my animals and is on the holistic side... she doesnt do anything that is not warranted... and relies on me to give her accurate info when my animals are in need of treatment .. usually i have the answers but not the license for the proper med if needed.. we also use herbs and alternative healing for dogs cats birds and fish .... she does accupuncture and ,, boy i ran on sorry.. good luck with yours..

Carnage! cool! I want to set in you back yard I love to watch dogs hunt. It is a spetacular event.

I worm in scheduled quarters. four times a year, followed by lime on the yard then a week later I fill the bottles for my hose sprayer set it on 4 and spray down every thing in the yard with industrial clorox at night. I keep my dogs in side at night. I have livestock and poultry also so I really have to stay one the parasite thing. I have to move them into another pasture and rotate. Butcher time is when there is carnage here. But I don't get to watch I have to do the work. No fun. but it fills the freezer.

    Lol that is funny.

Your a Vegetarian what is that? I am Catholic.
Mans Man? nah I like women that is for sure. But I am a country one. I like coon if it is cooked on the fire. Bear too. I ain't eating a opposume though I get grossed out watching some one skin one of those greasy rat looking things. I just as soon have some hog jawl and forget all about them possums. I have a cook book some place that does actually have the calorie break down on game. I will have to see if I can find what box I stuck it in. I have a simple diet. Meat, greens, and rice or potatos. Ya and grains I like most beens just not grean or wax beans. No I eat the ones you toss in some salt pork or a ham hock in and leave it cook for a day. Now that there and some corn bread and you got something.
