Lurker from another site

Just another coonie here trying to learn what I can about bloodlines. I am very interested in the APBT and the bloodlines that present the dogs as athletic terrier looking dogs. I have a young boy now and he is only 7 months old. Letting him enjoy being a pup because once his training harness comes in, time to start training for WP.


I live in Louisiana, Married, and loving being the at home wife. I have lots to learn and as long as You don't mind my n00bish questions; I have tons of questions from good breeders and bloodlines to what these dogs can do.

Welcome. Just to give you a heads up....Some of the generalized questions you may want to ask have probably been asked already by other novices. You may want to use the search feature reagarding issues you may want to learn about by typing key words and searching through the existing threads.

If you want to ask questions, ask away but be prepared for a variety of answers, some unexpected. Very many different perspectives are shared on this forum. Good luck.

 

Hey - hows it going? This is one of the most helpful sites with the best info, when it comes to showing, pulling, and catching. There will be more folks that have the same views on dogs, and less silver back gatormouths.
Also a good place to look into bloodlines and history on the breed.

Sure you already been all over the threads, cause you been here longer than I thought!

 

Thanks for the welcome! ^^ And I have been using the search tool a lot! also sometimes I can just google my questions and this site pulls up also so I just read. Believe me, I've learned to keep some questions to my self unless I just really can't find anything on the subject.

McCoy- HEY! So you know I am no longer on the other site. It was horrible. ^^ Thank you for the wonderful information you have already shared with me. I plan on continuing to learn and study until I have everything I need! I plan on having a very successful line and to do so I need to study hard! I'm young so I have a long time to study. I love these dogs. They are my passion.

I believe you are a user on pitbull-chat that tells everyone there is no such thing as a game bred dog right?

 

It's not that I don't believe there is no such thing as a game bred dog. Its the reasoning that game bred dogs cannot be tested for their true gameness anymore in the united states since dog fighting is illegal. You have more Game Bloodlines now then you dog true Game Bred dogs. I have never said there was no such thing. And I have only told one person about anything to do with game bred dogs, and that was that his dogs were not game bred but game blood.

I've read all the books, they are great books (actually have a couple of them signed!)

 

Oh that's awesome! I don't know why I didn't join this site first. D: I've been on so many so called APBT sites that I didn't know my head from my tail anymore. Trying to sort through the lies and the truths from people who don't even know what they are talking about. This site has some great resources. Bloodlines I am learning about are Colby (which I learned is more of a pet line now), Boudreaux, Lightner, Carver, Nigerino ... I think thats about it.

But I love learning about these dogs in general. Bloodline research is only for my next dog. I have also learned how to read pedigrees on this site and what dogs are good and not in a particular line based on what you are looking for. This site has provided so much information for me, I've been here a while. Only just now posting. ^^ I have loved the knowledge so far and I have a feeling I will always love it.

 

All of the bloodlines are pet lines.( Try finding the read on Ferguson's Centipede. )

Who told you that a Colby bred dog is nothing more than a pet? They are way more than that, if you ask me. Just my personal thoughts. Looks like you are getting some good feedback here. Glad to see that.

I also think I remember talking to you year or so ago. I remember your bulldog Snow.
