Elias'Pistola I do agree that the Hemphill/Norrod bloodline % wise breeds more for brood stock than performance because once the genetic gene pool is closed off all familys resort to the average of the family. I disargree the Hemphill/Norrod bloodline needs to be rekindled because history has shown how consistent the bloodline is. Rewind to 1977 when Ch Iron Spike ROM was bred to Maude, that litter produced Sambo 1xw, Babe 2xw, Rudy Red 2xw 1xlg and there was another female in that litter. Rudy Red was taken out at a year old and lost in over an hour to Gr Ch Al Capone. The quality has always been there because when you fast forward 30 years later the result of a two generation bro x sis breeding produced this dog.

Fast forward 30 years later in 2007 Danger produced Gr Ch Berry, Scout, Cherry and Razberry 1xw in one accidental litter and Razberry is the best dog in that litter. Like I mentioned in my previous post Ch Buckboy isn't the same quality of Ch CrazyHorse and this is what I've seen with my own two eyes on several occasions.

Another example would be this dog owned by Bump-N-Grind kennels who owns more Kinzenbaw dogs than anyone besides Kinzenbaw.

Crossed this dog isn't the quality of Arrow.

A younger sister to Arrow was bred to a winning Kinzenbaw dog Rascal 1xw which out of three pups produced a champion and a 1xw.

Out of Bump-N-Grind's mouth that champion still wasn't the quality of Arrow.

I was very close in buying Ch Princess about 8 or 9 years ago and knowing what I know now was one of the biggest regrets to date.

Her brother was a champion, her parents were champions and her dam was also a ROM dog. Diamond was a very good producer becuase half her champions were within the Colby family! Notice unlike many ROM dogs today there isn't 300 or 400 offspring needed to reach ROM status, no different than Ch Iron Spike ROM who was bred to 5 or 6 females to reach ROM status not 300 or 400 offspring today needed for alot of ROM dogs! I told Corvettedex the key to his dogs are Ch Princess because she is that pocket of producers within the Colby family that doesn't need to be rekindled but bred around to keep producing winning dogs for the oldest family that gene pool has been closed since Dime was bred to the 3/4 rifle bitches in the early 50's.

Back to the original topic of this post yes littermates can be bred together without faults, family breeding with littermates can be accomplished with very good results and not all familys/lines can withstand intense inbreeding so littermate breeding will result in faults!

I have a question to that subject...
I could havea puppy from a breeding and I really like this family of dogs. But I am not sure if it's a wise idea because it's pretty inbreed. The male which is inbred too was a good dog, only problem he had was that his skin was not perfect. The female which is inbred too was a very healthy dog but a little hysteric. Both dogs are related somewhere back in the 8th generation or so, so it is not relevant and we can say, they're from different lines. The 2 dogs from their litter who were used, are from good character, work good, healthy. The mother of the puppies (littermate breeding) has no visible weak points either. Would you try or not?

If the dogs will produce what you want, try it. I would be more wary of the skin problems than skittishness. Does he pass on the skin thing? Imo if they are both inbred on the same family but not directly related, it's a linebreeding

He passed it to 20% of his pups but the ones used for the breeding are healthy. The 2 main dogs are from different lines (they are not very linebred but some ancestors appear more often in their ped), but both meet in 3rd/ 5th generation (a dog from Balkan), 7th generation (Red Boy) and 8th generation (Jeep).
