less that 10$ that is cheap. The one on the link I provided, is 250Eur, so over 300USD.

I couldn't make it for $10 but I could damn sure make it for a lot less than that.

Can make a double walled, insulated, 2 chamber dog house for half that price. I live in northeastern us and I doubt a dog would be very warm in our winters here in the dog house shown in that link.. Personally, barrel dog houses are an eye sore to me. I wouldn't want to look out back and see them myself, but to each their own.
Anyone use those in the northern states? I only usually see them where its warm most year round.

  5. Yep best dog houses money can build IMO :)

Thats true, dual wall is the best. And plastic is aint going hold the cold out. Although not sure If there avaialble here to buy ready built.I reckon it would be cheaper to pay a Joiner to build one. The prices for a quality kennel here is unrealhttp://www.kennelstore.co.uk/shop/dog-cabins?vmcchk=1

I saw on youtube where you could put a 55 gallon barrel inside the dog house and cover it with straw for the winter, and remove it for the summer months.

Mine too. We slide 2" insulation board down in between the walls then seal it. Its a good design, probably why it's so popular.

you can do alot with the barrells its just most people dont..but you can build a nice frame around them and make them look alot better..i like them because they let very little moisture in..but to each thier own.

I think you mean this video:

I wouldn't mind trying that. I have a dog who hates wooden dog houses, won't sleep in them :confused: Loves barrels though.

Do you know what the barrel had in it?

  15. Just wanted to say Hi to everyone.. That's a nice dog house. think i'm going to have to make one like that using natural wood and a sealer called rainguard. It's suppose to be child and pet friendly. anyways great job....

In a northwestern climate, cool/cold and rainy, is a double-walled wood house better than an Igloo dog house? Is there a dog house that is better than either of them in this climate?

  20. There's no comparison between that and an igloo IMO. If you put the foam sheeting insulation in the walls on this one, a flap on the door, and plenty of straw bedding, they are good to go. I put water sealer on mine. Putting some shingles may help if you get lots of rain.
