    Hey all,

I need some training help for a 14mo male pit my neighbor's trying to place. He jumps on me and tries to bite my gloves when I let him run loose in the fenced area I have. He also jumps/bites at my hands when I'm holding rawhides or sticks. He doesn't do it all the time, just when he gets super hyped up from running around the pen. When he does this, sometimes I knee him down, or I grab his collar and push him down, but I'm don't know if this is the very effective. It's been a few years since I've had to deal with a young dog like this. What would y'all do?

    Thanks!

The real question is how how you been a member here for over 2 years but yet can't control a year old dog without asking here? Not being rude just figured you would have at least picked that up in that amount of time. Anyways, good luck with the dog.

If you put the dog on a chain, you'll have a span of HIS space and you can work around it better. Use flirt devices so he focuses on them and not your clothes and gloves. You're outmatched because he's full of piss and vinegar as a young sprite and you're giving him the ability to snag you, playing. They sometimes play rough. You need to establish his limits, then work with the dog without having to go MMA with him.

have him on the lease ...
then when he jump at you let him meet your knie(his chest) ...take's his breath away
when he did it 2.5 time's its over
don't kick him he wil see that ...as you wanne hurt him...nevr kick a dog
when arrive with his chest on your knie ..he does himself.

do for what you went up to her/him....start the hand walking .......with the dog
and have a long happy life together lol

14 months? It will not be easy to break those habits at that age. Not impossible by any means but it will not be easy. Punishment (no reward) every time he does it, reward when he doesn't. Try that for a few months. It will not be over night by any means, and I am not an expert. Just what I have experienced.
