Who is still breeding decent irish staffs, the ones with the ebt influence?

    Any help would be appreciated.

If you want a staff line that looks like a bull terrier then why not buy a bull terrier or a cross breed.I would say no kennel is breeding staffs with bull terrier influence .The staff line with the most bullterrier blood way back is probably the stormer dogs but i wouldnt even say these had any influence left, its a slightly weird question to be honest. Its a bit like asking for the best apple but with pear influence . If you trace most of the so called irish staff lines back decades most have a microscopic amount of bull terrier in them but no influence is present any more except afew prick ears or lack of courage. As for breeders of decent 'irish ' staffs good luck with that one. May be a breeder will p.m you but these would most likely be peddlers with fake peds anyway.

Thanks for your reply... When i say with the ebt influence I meant the likes of psycho, stormer and the latharna dogs and a few others that had small amounts of ebt blood in there

Go to an ed reid type show, talk to afew lads who have dogs that you like the look of and of 'irish ' lineage, and ask when will pups be forth coming,i would imagine that you wont have to look too hard ,do your research first if you havent already so as you know what you want in a ped.

I get the BIGGEST kicks out of the irish staffy threads. There is NO pure irish staffy. There a mutt made up of mostly staffy and EB with a touch of pitbull. There's plenty of EB in ALL those dogs.If you like the EB so much I'd find yourself a nice crossed EB out there.EB have been crossed with EVERYTHING out there.I loved stormer myself the problem with dogs like that is there gene pool is so HUGE and FUNKY they never breed one like themselves. So they really are junk.A good EB are nice the only thing they can'nt do is JUMP.

What is so funny? Neither of us said there was a pure irish staff,we were talking about staffs that spent several generations in eire working the badger trials that were crossed occasionally with working English bulls.Hence the term'irish' staff. And by the way English bulls cant jump or do almost anything else, they are one of the original bull breeds that have been ruined beyond help. FACT.

If "Psycho" appears in the pedigree there will be a tiny amount of Bull terrier in Irish SBTs, he was born in the 1980, he has 6.25% Bull terrier in him from a cross done back in the 1960s, that makes him 93.75% pure SBT, I don't know of anyone adding more Bull terrier since then , so the percentage of Bull terrier in Irish SBTs , should be minuscule , plus there are other strains with no bull terrier added, Irish SBTs are just the strains that ware bred in Ireland for sport , not for show standard , there is nothing ancient, in fact the name Irish SBT , was first used in the late 1970s...

.....X"2..as above..there is one or two who have decent ok dogs..but as said above go to a show or two......the fact is bull breeds have been crossed into each other for god knows when, even when some don't wish to entertain it's true..........lol..........

image.jpg Thanks for everyone's replies... I agree that there has always been breedings done between the various bull breeds. This was the type I was referring to...

I know the owner of that dog , as far as I know there is no Bull terrier in it, unless you count "Psycho" who is way back in the pedigree, and the bull terrier way back in "Psycho"s pedigree ,,,,,,,

Thanks for the info, the way I tend to describe these types of staffs is with ebt influence... I apologise if I confused anyone
