Way too much protein, the only thing that food would do is give you fat unhealthy dogs, but maybe you like that? Seems to be the new trend these days......lol.

That dog food is pure poisoned junk! You and the dogs would be better off, feeding cardboard soaked in salmon oil. You have to go to the 10th ingredient (flax seed) to find the only usable ingredient in the kibble; the first nine are absolutely useless. I’d hope nobody would actually pay $35.00 for that crap!<O:p</O:p

Looks like crap to me...i would rather feed ol roy or even pedigree from wal mart...i hope your not even considering getting that. i feel bad for your dog/dogs if you do..please re consider...there are many dog food threads on here, read them and you'll learn a few things. Canidae is a good food, chicken soup for the pet lovers soul, and a few others..everyone has their own opinion, but anything is better than that food..lol..

  11. Never read the ingerediants before. Just heard about the food and was asking questions. Right now im feeding Chicken Soup For The Puppy Lovers Soul and to some of my dogs Eukanuba Premium Performance.

I don't own any pit bulls, but I came across this thread about Intimidator dog food during a Google search and was absolutely shocked to see all of the negative comments here about this dog food, apparently from people who have never even fed it!

I've fed Intimidator 31/21 to my small dog kennel for over four years now, and I have to say that it's the best dog food that I've ever fed to any dog. And I have had a lot of experience with dogs over the years, as my own Mother was a Cocker Spaniel breeder from the 1930's through the 1950's, plus I've had dogs for most of my adult life--sight hounds such as Borzoi, Afghans and Salukis when I was younger, and now smaller breeds since I've gotten older. So I've fed a LOT of different dog foods over that time, including some very expensive ones like Innova and Cannidae, as well as more common ones such as ProPlan, Purina, Iams, Eukunuba, and just before I switched, Nutro from Tractor Supply.

Intimidator is manufactured by Hi-Tek Rations in Dublin, Georgia, which is in the heart of the Southern Georgia chicken processing industry, and this company makes a good use of the by products from that industry. And because it's made close by to our location here in North Florida, we get this dog food very fresh at our local farm and ranch feed store--where it's the most expensive dog food sold there, and we buy it in 50 pound bags, mostly two and three bags at a time.

I first learned about Intimidator from one of our local County Commissioners who fed it to his working Border Collies on his 200 acre ranch. But Intimidator 31/21 is mostly fed to hunting dogs during hunting season here, when these dogs are under the most stress, as it's rather expensive to feed as a maintenance dog food by many people here in our rather poor area of rural Florida. And I've gotten a lot of kidding over the years at the farm and ranch store about consistently buying this dog food, as I'm apparently the only breeder of smaller sized dogs who regularly buys this dog food there--as Intimidator is mostly sold to breeders and owners of much larger working and hunting dogs around here.

However, all of the small dogs that I keep here are breeders who all have the run of our four different dog yards 24 hours a day, as I believe in keeping my breeding dogs in top physical condition, which I believe lessens whelping problems and generally helps to keep my vet bills much lower than if my breeding dogs were out of condition. And I also feel that the extra fat and protein in this particular dog food have helped to keep my males potent well into older age, as in 2010 I had a very healthy litter from my 9 1/2 year old Cocker male that was the foundation male for my whole kennel. And combined with switching to breeding "designer" litters for better hybrid vigor, I've greatly lessened my newborn mortality rate since I started feeding this food. After all, dogs are real carnivores, and not omnivores such as we humans, although dogs can survive as scavengers of all sorts of food. But I believe that the high protein and fat levels in this food have helped greatly in keeping my dogs in optimal physical condition.

And fortunately I had begun feeding Intimidator 31/21 before the whole Chinese pet food poisoning scandal which killed over 8,000 pets here in the US. So there was never any question of there being any problem with this dog food in that whole mess, unlike some of the brands that I've used in the past.

And as my dogs are all physically active, NONE of them are fat at all on this higher protein and fat formula, as I do believe that it's the carbs in grains that help keep dogs fat, especially non-intact pet dogs that get very little exercise. Plus Cocker and Cocker mixes--as I now just breed Cocker designer mixes, using Havanese, Bolognese and Tibetan Terriers in my designer mixes meant purely for pet homes here in Florida--anyway Cockers are often allergic to grains--especially corn--and Intimidator 31/21 does not contain either corn or soy. And Cockers cannot be fed lamb either, due to possibly copper toxicity, a trait that they share with Bedlingtons.

Now since the Chinese poisoning incident I do not recommend ANY dog food to my puppy buyers, as I simply do not want that liability if we have another poisoning incident in the future. And most of my buyers that mostly live down in Central Florida probably could not find this dog food to buy anyway, as I understand that Intimidator is mostly sold in rural areas. But I have absolutely no problem stating my experience here with what I've found is the best dog food that I've ever fed for my particular purposes with dogs.

Being a dog breeder, I generally don't put my real name out on the internet, and Suwannee Cockers no longer exists as a breeding kennel, although I still use this email address, as I've had it for about ten years now. So I'll just sign this "a dog lover." And I have absolutely NO connection with Hi-Tech Rations except as a satisfied customer over the years.

I've used it. I liked it. Only problem I found was their poop smelled gawwwd awful. It is due to the fat. Now I feed 25/20.

  20. I fed my dogs intimidator for awhile I really like it. I'm up North now and can't find it but when I get back to Florida my pits will go back on it
