This is why I really hate people sometimes. They just suck balls.

    BALTIMORE --
The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter is looking for information on those who abused a dog that was rescued on Sunday.

BARCS said the dog was rescued in the 3700 block of Greenspring Avenue in Baltimore. Officers said the abuse happened near the grounds of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary.

Officials with BARCS said a group of juveniles threw rocks and bricks at the female pup.

"Her face was swollen. Her eyes were swollen shut," BARCS member Debra Rahl said. "She still has wounds on the top of her head. Her eyes are still a little bit swollen. Her muzzle was very swollen."

The Good Samaritan who rescued the dog said the children started throwing rocks and bricks at him when he tried to help.

"It's unbelievable that kids could do something so cruel," Rahl said. "Thankfully, this gentleman saw them and intervened. The outcome could have been a lot worse for Christie."

The young pit bull is on antibiotics and seems to be coming around, something that has shocked her caretakers.

"I'm surprised that she survived and that the swelling has gone down so quickly. We weren't sure when she first came in if she had a fractured skull or other injuries from the bricks and rocks thrown at her head," Rahl said.

BARCS members are urging people in the neighborhood to pay close attention to their animals, so they don't fall victim like Christie did.

"How can you be cruel to an animal that is like this? How could you do that?" Rahl asked.

Once Christie is healthy enough, she will be put up for adoption.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baltimore City Animal Control at 410-396-4698.
