Induceing A Heat?

I Am Looking For Something To Induce A Heat My Bitch Is Past Due And I Want To Give Her A Kick In The Butt Any Help?????

I dont know of anything that will do this..but I would take her into the vet and have her checked out

Sometimes they will go through a silient heat in whihc you cant tell (but the male dogs will be able to)

Or it could be a sign of something serious like cancer, infection... Sometimes its nothing..just them but you owe it to her to have her checked out especially if you plan on breeding her

Also,.how old is she? Age can have something to do with it, too

Why? If your bitch is not having regular heat cycles, the first thing you should be looking at is her NUTRITION, and not a quick fix with pig hormones.<O:p</O:p

That “kick is the butt” could totally mess your bitch up forever hormonally!<O:p</O:p

I've got a 3 year old that has not had a good cycle. She gets the same feed as my other which has come in and now her daughter's are coming in. Tia has had no visible health problems and is active. I've not had her seen by a vet for this, but my stud male is getting older and I'm running out of time. What do you suggest on nutrition? I feed all a hi-protein feed and they all are doing well on it, but if there's something I'm missing, I am open for advise. I've also had her next to my other female during her cycle. I've been told of a shot the vet can give, but didn't want to do anything without checking all other options first.

Not way too really know, you have not stated exactly what it is you’re feeding. <O:p</O:p

You can take and have seamen from your stud dog frozen to use at a later date.. It gets expensive but when it comes to the health and safety of your female and future pups, its well worth it

Take her in and have her checked by the vet just to be safe and certain. Also..how many litters has she had and how far apart? Do you breed her every heat or wait in betweeen?

Stress in the home? Feed?? Low thyroid..all those things can contribute to her cycle. Usually when female dogs are ket together they all start to develop the same cycle give or take . If you're dedicated to breeding healthy dogs, then you owe it to you and her to get her to the vet. If you're trying to preserve a line and cant wait..have some seamen frozen from your stud dog for later use.

1cc of Testosterone 200 mg. works great for a very good friend of mine. I have not tried it because I have not had the need to. And to be honest with you I can´t see how testosterone would bring a bitch in heat,but it was told to me by a serious dogman who got the tip from his Vet. who races Greyhounds. I consulted it with my Vet and he couldn´t see why testosterone would bring a bitch into heat. But since the tip came from a very reliable source I am passing it on. Before I would try this though I would feed the bitch a premium feed(not just some cheap shit which is high in protein) until her next heat cycle is due. Remember high in protein means nothing,it´s the source of that protein which counts. This should take care of the problem unless the dog has a certain condition. If still in doubt open up your wallet and go consult your Vet. Good Luck

thanks for all the advice guys. we are just going to ride it out for now. she is a 2 yr old and her diet consist of lamb and rice and some chicken broth. she has not droped a litter yet this is her third heat cycle and it was a false heat the best we could tell. she did not take on her last breeding so we are gonna get her into the vet to see if she is even fertile let hope so she is a great dog. but thaxs for all the info.

I'm sorry, am I reading this right? This guy (seems in 2004) wants to have his 2 year old bitches heat jumpstarted and he missed with his last breeding with this 2 year old dog (that would have been about 15 to 18 months old when she was first bred?):eek:

 

Let's focus on the subject not the OP. The subject is "How do you induce a bitch to go into heat?"

There are several ways to do it. Please feel free to share your experiences and methods with the rest of the members.

 

We used something before, I think it was called PG-5000 or something along those lines, it's a pig hormone. I wouldn't induce a heat now a days knowing that it can cause other things to go wrong with the dogs cycle and natural hormone production. I would just be patient and let it happen naturally. No one should be in that kind of a hurry to breed that your willing to alter your dogs natural cycle and put your bitches health in jepordy.......JM.02

 

OK, here is another way of inducing a heat.

Chain a bitch already in heat next to the one you want to go into heat. This should do the trick without chemicals. I know there are more ways to do it. Feel free to share.

AGK, we go down a slippery slope when we start telling people what we should or should not do with their dogs. I know you did not mean it in a wrong way.......just had to make my statement for anyone that reads yours.:o

 

Ok just for clarity when I say something like I wouldn't do something, I mean it as, you do what you want with your dog, hell, it's your dog, but I, as in me personally, would not do it, You guys do whatever you want it's none of my buisness. Thanks for at least knowing what I ment rocky but it seems a bit juvenile to have to explain I means me to people but then again I have a girl friend that doesnt comprehend anything I say so I'm kind of use to it....lol. Anywho, I have also heard of people putting a bitch thats in heat near the one you want to come into heat and they say it works.

I would think if a bitch doesn't come in season or a male doesn't want to breed or is infertile that there is some serious underlying problem with a basic system such as low thyroid, hormone problems, etc.

Breeding is such a natural, easy thing for dogs to accomplish that I don't know that I would even WANT to try to breed a dog that wasn't right that way and end up just propagating the problem, whatever it is.

breed heat i think is the product i once saw that people were using not sure though of the name.
if she wont come into heat then its best to take her to the vet just to make sure she is ok.
patience is a virtue in this breed

 

I believe U meant to say pg600.
I am no expert when it comes to breeding but can tell you from experience that it may help it is NOT recommended by Vets for Dogs, It's usually used for Swine and Cows.
Tried over 15 years ago with no success and the bitch came in to heat not long after being kenneled next to another bitch being bred that wk.
