    Dog fighting gets stiffer penalties

    Stiffer penalties are on the way for those involved in dog fighting, especially if children are brought to witness the crime.

    State Rep. Karen Yarbrough, D-7th, recently sponsored and passed legislation that hikes the penalty for an adult who attends a dog fight and for those who bring a child aged 13 or younger to a dog fight. The adults will be charged with a Class 3 felony for the first violation and can face up to five years in prison. Subsequent violations will be charged as a Class 2 felony.

    “There is something seriously wrong with anyone who would attend an event where dogs are tortured into fighting each other to the death. For an adult to bring a minor to a dog fight, I can’t even begin to fathom their lack of humanity,” said Yarbrough.

    The measure also cracks down on organizers and participants of dog fights. Anyone who provides a location for a dog fight that is within 1,000 feet of a school, public park, playground, child care center, day care home, group day care home or facility that only serves minors will face a Class 3 felony. If an adult attaches a dog to a machine for the purposes of dog fighting, they will face a Class 4 felony and be fined up to $50,000.

    “Dog fighting has always been an underground activity, but in recent years the people involved have become more brazen. What we need to do is drive these fights out of our communities and severely punish anyone who is caught organizing or even watching,” she said.

    Not only do they want to fuck you as a APBT owner they want to terrorize the family unit. if this doesn't disturb a person or force you to make some serious choices in the line of wether or not these animals are worth it any more.

    heres a scenerio, what if you hang all kinds of hogg heads in your house keep hides on your property.

    and if your dogs have scars you can blaem em on the hunt. post pictures of the dogs standing next to a dead boar.

    would/would the "dogfighting" charges still hold up in court, if all the "evidence" leads up to you hunting with your dogs?

    yea im not talkin bout that, just curious cuz we all know that if AC see's a bunch of dogs, scars on your dogs and you got excercise equipment, your automatically a dogfighter.

    but if you say "well no im not, my dogs are fighters. but they fight pigs!" lol and explain thats what you breed for "catchwork"

    are the odds still high of it holding up in court?

    sounds good, but i believe they have a few friends in forensics that would clarify whether or not the marks were from pigs or dogs. My money is with the House(human society). lol

    Lol this isnt just a scenario for me..I actually use my dogs for hog hunting so if it ever happens lets hope it holds up in court..if not im fucked for hunting..wont that be a bitch..lol

    I used to live in SF. we would go up to sonoma and hunt wild pigs. the pigs would do massive damage in the vinyards. the pigs were out of control then, late 80's. I suppose there are still lots up there. the meat was some of the best I've ever had.
    I also agree, LA sucks! I still get mad when I see dodger blue!!

    Theyre on private land in Sonoma. There is a public spot or two in sonoma county but from what ive heard the hogs were pushed out. Hunting with dogs is only allowed in certain areas. You can get that info from cdfg's website.
