These are the "show" German Shepherd Dogs. Bred for just that. Not work.

I remember someone here had posted a picture of two German Shepherd Dogs that were stationed in a checkpoint somewhere in Russia or something like that. The dogs in that pic were a fine example of the breed also.

My family has a german shepherd/rottweiler cross and that dog is TO MUCH, as in UN stable to listen to us she always runs away from us and won't let us catch her. She still does this today and she's 9 years old we got her when when she was 8 weeks.

I am going to own a doberman though for certain I know I will have a bond with one just like Mr. doberman himself :D from what I hear those dogs can bond and protect you more then you can imagine and they just look so damn nice :dogstare:a rottweiler would do as well one powerful bite and I have heard plenty of good stories with those dogs.

Dobermans are great, they will bond with you like crazy and I'm not exaggerating. Problem is, they're skittish dogs for the most part. I'd get a dogo argentino or a presa.

Give me a South African boerboel any day! Of course, I'm a little partial since I have one. Best damn guard dog I've ever had the pleasure to be around. She would die protecting my husband or me, no question. I've not had to train her for it either, she just knows. And she knows which people are friends and which are foes, unlike some other breeds, which makes her safe and a pleasure to take out in public. Her fav thing to do is go shopping, lol.

But she's all business at home or in the car or if someone weird tries to approach me. Here's my girl Eisha:

German Shepherds. I own those. And all american german shepherds do NOT have sloping back issues. They are just like any other breed, with variances.

Also many American lines will also work. If you want one, know what you are buying, look at the parents, do your research, etc. I have seen some bulls*it from overseas too.

    ElJayBee,

Would you like to find out if she will actually put teeth into a threat? If so, let me know. I will be glad to evaluate your dog as a PP candidate. MANY dogs will come close, but will hesitate at the last minute...or only bite when someone is fleeing or active...but won't engage a calm direct attack.

If you would like to find out, I will be glad to volunteer as a trainer for you at no charge to evaluate the dog. I like the boerboel breed...and would enjoy working the dog. Should the dog do well, then great...and if not, well...you will know where the weaknesses are and we can work to improve them.

It would be interesting to see if she would bite given the opportunity. She's never had the opportunity tho, because the threat of her has always been enough to thwart any would-be intruders so far. As far as I know, she's never put teeth into a person. Other dogs, yes, but not a person.

She is getting a lot older now and has some health issues (an unfortunate side effect from getting her as a "rescue"), but I would still love to see what she would be capable of. Send me a PM if you really want to talk. :)

And when she passes, I will be getting another female BB pup, which I am VERY interested in putting through some PP training as well as weight pull.

From what I've seen, Belgian Malinois look like they can handle the task. I'm just not a fan of long coated dogs even though their coats aren't too bad
