If you had to pick from one of these guardian breeds

    a Colt 45 IS a 1911

    The 45 ACP is a 1911. 45 Colt is typically a revolver...incorrectly called 45 LC.

I should have added...being the colt was however the original 1911...I hear ya. Just being a bit technical is all.

A guarantee is only as good as the breeder...be it a "pure" bred or a "mixed" bred dog.

That said, consistency comes via selection. All dogs, "pure" or not, are the same species. Traits have to be selected for. Inbreeding and linebreeding improve consistency, but outcrosses are necessary as well. Each of these are "breeding tools" that help a knowledgable breeder produce the desired outcome...but they must be used properly. When that is done, the illusion of "purity" is revealed and one discovers that traits are illustrated within FAMILIES of dogs more so than "breeds."

We select for traits. Nothing more, nothing less. The ability to perform as a family companion guardian/PP dog is our goal. Keep that goal in mind, selecting towards it, and knowing something about genetics and breeding allows a breeder to produce more consistent "mixed" dogs than some pure bred breeders.

That said, I was NOT offended by your post.

South African Boerboel - if you are willing to oulay the dollar - Great dog

Alert , Hard Mouth , Very terittorial , agile and athletic ( even for the size )

Excellent Guard Dog - Extensively used on farms

I myself would NEVER choose a dobeman. They are smart, and they are fast, but they are also spooked easily and are not durable at all. Too easily hurt.

The boerboel can be a great choice...if you get a good one.

I'd choose a well bred working rottweiler any day. A doberman second to my rottie, a good dob is only fragile in comparison to the other guardian breeds because he's more sleek and agile. You won't physically damage the dog before i get there or before my loved ones are moved to safety.

It's not on this list but i would go with a well bred CAFIB Fila Brasileiro.
Bad ass guard dogs, #1 man stoppers IMO.

    I also like Redcapo's Brazillian Bull-Mastiffs

But the question was which one of the dogs on this list would you pick, so from the list i would go for aa Presa Canario.

One of the best dogs I've ever owned was a GS, and my son has a very nice Pressa. So those would be my choice from the list

Those are the two craziest stories I've ever heard of how someone got their dogs. DAMN! DEATH by alcohol poising? He musta had SO DAMN much.

That was AWESOME!!! How do you breed your dogs?

Thanks for the kind words. We test them for working ability and breed the best to the best. Some are outcrosses, others are lines. It depends on what is needed and what is best for a given individual. Each breeding is determined by putting the best match I can conclude. I have to work the dogs to best determine what traits are there, and also study to understand the genetics behind the traits...and then make the appropriate decision. I started my program about a decade ago now...after first getting 2 degrees in Animal Sciences, having dogs my entire life, and learning from those that were successful with their goals.

Yeah. And they're true. Although I think that my friend didn't just die of "alcohol poisoning". I suspect that he also was into drugs. Maybe a little coke/crystal meth?

German Bred Doberman. Doberman and Mastiff are the only breeds to be created to work on humans. My family has owned Dobermans. In High School a friends father trained German Shepherds for Law Enforcement. His own personal protection dog was a 90-100lb German bred Doberman.
