c_note, from what I can tell from what was written on Frisco he was athletic, durable had high working drives and could grip well above his body weight. Good conformation too. He also was a prepotent stud. Had he been abnormally people shy and passed this trait as you say, then maybe I would have selected another dog…maybe more outgoing, dominant attitude dogs such Mayday or Machobuck (so I’ve read). But I don’t think those two had as good conformation, athleticism as Frisco/Chinaman. I could be wrong. Just example and my opinion of course.

I do think environment, (namely owner/handler ability) plays an important role in expressing the genetics over the life of the dog - for better and worse.

You’re not alone, I’ve a mistrust of that stuff as well. And for the same reasons. I couldn’t have done it either friends of mine had over a dozen of Benji’s offspring between them, none made the grade. Not surprising when one studies his ped.

If I had to pick 3 imports from that era to start a yard from I’d pick Revenge, Little Holly and Charlie jr a little known son of Duprel’s Charlie B.

I swear, as early as 96-97 I can remember some guys around my uncles and older brother talking about how shy that Frisco shit was. I don't know enough to say he passed it or another dog in the mix, but I can definitely say I seen my fair share of shy Frisco dogs.

Yarrakin said the same about most bloodlines apart from his own mate, Joe Montana, Sheena Black (especially her :) Two Toes, Jacko and Benji, he was completely merciless on them.. The man worshipped gameness, that's just how he was and who can argue? He always said Curstopper x Lady Chablis was the gamest breeding ever done in UK.

I agree. I said as long as they aren’t neglected. Schooling helps experience and teaches them to use their ability. If one was just fed and walked I don’t think it would be a lesser dog than one schooled early. If they waited til Ch Homer was 2 to start schooling him, would have done worse? I’m not saying he would have better, but I don’t think he would have done worse. I agree about management otherwise

Revenge must have been some dog with a full set of teeth. He was a terrible chain fighter so I only ever saw him without his k9’s, but even then he was a hell of a dog that would’ve been hard to stop. Shame he only had the one litter make it to adulthood, would’ve been a great producer without the interference of the dda.

I very much doubt Yarrakin or many dogmen from here ever saw a straight bred Banjo/Miss Kim bred dog go, as there wasn’t but a few brought in. Most of those labelled Banjo breeding here were offspring of Benji with people conveniently forgetting 3/4’s or more of the pedigree.

Far as I'm aware Yarrakin never mentioned Banjo or Miss Kim, his comments were aimed at Rustler's Benji, a son off Banjo who produced FNK's Harry 2xw who I'm pretty sure most of us UK fellas recently agreed was best producer ever in UK.. I only ever owned a son of Benji, a very game dog and litter brother FSK's CH.Lola.. I neither know, or care much about Benji, but until some other blood 'PROVES' better in terms of producing, then it seems premature and slightly unfair to disregard that dog's legacy?
