Cougars, Mountain Lion's, Panther's, Puma's I believe are the same cat with different names depending on where you are from. All of them I have seen, not that I have seen many would of been in the 160lb-180lb range but 200lb+ cats are common some may be closer to 300lbs. Ours are big cats for sure. I always heard how the Dogo Argentino was used and still used on Puma. They may work on a 75lb one but one thing is for sure they would not last 2 seconds with ours up here nothing can. They can take down any big game including Elk which are big strong animal's. Not something I want to mess with but a neat creature to see and shouldn't be over hunted. You have to put in for a draw to get a tag to shoot one.

Colder climate breeds bigger animals all round. Deer wolves etc all proven world wide to get bigger the further north you go.

  5. @BB....i think a cat that big would kill about ten catch dogs.lol.

Theres some evidence that a smaller cat can be taken...with like four to six dogs that is..

"I have never killed a Panther in the jungles with dogs only, but i once let a full grown Leopard out of a cage in a open plain with Bill Sykes,Turk,Bismark, and Tiger. They speedily rendered him 'hors de combat'.....Turk was the only dog bitten, and he was not serverly hurt.Panthers or Leopards in caves might be easily overcome with such dogs. For use against Panthers or Bears a leather collar, almost as thick as a trace, and 31/2 inches wide,is ample protection for the dogs throats. There should be no spikes or plates on the collar,as whilst a Panther will seize the throat (witch he cannot harm through the leather)if there be no spikes, thier presence is likely to make him lay hold elsewhere, where he may do more damege."

all the dogs mentiond weighed between 35 and 45 lbs.

I tried for a while after I made this thread to find the picture. Originally the picture was with the story. Showed his head on a platter on a nicely set dinner table. It was on FB though and most likely got tagged for removal. Have not been able to find it since. Could have been Photoshopped, never really know anymore.

I've always loved the American Blue Gascon Hounds. People have been breeding those to Argintino Dogos and calling them Lion Hounds or some shit. Probably a pretty serious animal. Haven't looking into it myself.

Too long for skinning and too pretty for bush bashing I reckon.

  13. I thought so mate...

Very nice piece of kit all the same.
im thinking one of them, and just a few cheap bush bashers and a folding saw would be the way to go.
