I need some advice-

Discussion in 'Breeder Discussion' started by vaportrail, Sep 24, 2015.

  1. I rescued a pup about a year ago, only because she looked like a great dog that I had growing up. White coat with brown markings, and a red nose.

She's got a pretty good attitude around my 7 year old son, and she's smart as a whip.

The big problem is, her skin allergies.

She's allergic to food, and also just being outside here in dusty dirt where we live makes her skin turn red.

My question is, what are the chances (if I can manage to find her a good stud) to get pups that don't have allergies?

The first question people will ask is why are u breeding?

Rescuing a dog then breeding it is kind of going against the whole point of rescuing, saving 1 dog to create possibly 8-10 more dogs. Don't create more dogs that may end up in rescues if you can't sell them or the people who buy them get fed up when the dog is no longer a cute puppy.

    Why would you breed her?

Well buddy back in 2004 I purchased a bitch pup, well bred, turned out to be one intense and game bitch. Had very bad skin allergies, almost impossible to keep hair on her unless you keep her inside 100% of the time. Still have her, never once bred her even though I could dam sure use a few of her traits. The risk of having a full litter with the same problem outweighs the reward. And this dog was highly sought after by me and she proved her worth. So I wouldn't definitely advise against what you are considering. Also if you pick up a dog, keep it and plan to breed it..... you just took you a dog home you didn't rescue it

Change her diet to a good RAW diet and see if it helps her allergies disappear. If you MUST breed her, make sure that you have people lined up to take them before you do anything. If the diet doesn't help out, don't breed her no matter how you feel about her.

Exactly LOL....on a serious note I do not like the term "Rescue" as it takes no heroics to adopt a dog. LOL...but then again in this fucked up world we live in now where a fucking Tranny can win the courage award I guess anything is possible LMAO.

The term "rescue", is just another ploy from the those Animal rights nut jobs to win the the sympathy votes to further there twisted and fucked up agenda.

The rescue groups I have seen around my part of town you can not get an animal that intac. I WOULD NOT BREED THAT ANIMAL AT ALL.

All great post, robertosilvia was spot on about the counter rescue...
Caj saved himself some money and time by not breeding a sub standard brood and stoping th roblem not causing it, good looking...
Osage always has sound advice, if food dont fix the problem, its probably worse than you thiink and could be genetic...
JUST THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE TO ASK SHOULD ANSWER YOUR OWN QUESTION...Leave the breeding for the breeders and the rescuing for the rescuers...

  17. I guess I rescued her from the "rescue" group???

A couple I know from the Legion went through a nasty divorce. She had papers that he couldn't go near her anymore, so he went there and got his horse, and never returned. Meanwhile, the judge ordered her to go to rehab for a month if she wanted her kid back. She hired someone that was supposed to take care of her horse, donkies, and dogs didn't do a good job. The pup wasn't getting enough food, and was malnourished.

They breed dobermans and pitbulls, and the pup is supposed to be a good line, but the husband has paperwork for her, and I sure as hell don't want anything to do with HIM.

Anyway, when the woman got out of rehab she called me and asked if I would take the donkies. Said I could have them for free if I just come and get them. So, I made a few calls and ended up getting $400 for the donkies, (my friend sold them for $600). While I was there loading the donkies, the woman tried to get me to take the puppy. I wouldn't even consider it, since it wasn't my truck and the pup was a muddy mess.

Later she called me again, and told me that if I didn't come and get that pup she was sending her to the pound.

I switched around her food, and found she does much better on zignature white fish kibble.

    $50 for 28 pound bag.

After reading all the comments, I went ahead and made an appointment to get her spayed next month, even though she's got the look and temperament I've been trying to find in a dog for the past 20 years- And I wanted my 7 year old boy to experience raising a brood of puppies... But I'm no "dog breeder" and we've got too many irons in the fire right now anyway.

She'll make us a good pet...
