How'd all these dog people get in my room?

Hi all. I tried the site back in 2011, got lost in the maze of computerese, and have only just found my way back. My fault entirely, not the site's.

My favorite dog was Red Tina and I even wrote a book about her. Fun, sometimes, reliving not only "the good old days" but the "bad old days" as well. So if any of you have any questions about my happenings during the Seventies, ask away. Off the top of my head, those were some very good years for the dogs -- but soon to turn really bad. I'm sure many of you know exactly what I mean.

Anyway, looking forward to my stay here. My New Year's resolution? Not to get lost in any more mazes.

Lots of amusing little tidbits of having met Mahoney, Clouse, Mayfield, Bobby Hall, Ed Crenshaw, and of course Patrick and Steinberg and others. I was kind of in the middle of it there for awhile. Best to eke it out, I think. Get me wound up and I'll never shut up. Ha. Responsibilities keeping me pretty occupied these days, and so it's always nice to unwind a bit. Important to remember that whatever I recount ought be considered from an historical point of view, as befitting the considerably less than legendary old relic that I am. Ha again.

    Welcome Back Fritz,LOL.

I would love to hear ANY tid bits or interesting stories you have and are willing to share.

One thing that comes to mind is, After all the crazy stories I've heard I wonder did the people in the dogs really go to shit, OR did those people just get older and now look down on what they used to do themselves.....? LOL

Thanks for asking. Yes, I have them all and more gathered together, all spruced up, and ready to go. Dunno if I'm supposed to "advertise" here, but there's this link:

"Did the people in the dogs really go to shit, OR did those people just get older and now look down on what they used to do themselves?"

Both and neither, which is to say I wouldn't make a generality of it. I do think some of the people in the dogs truly went to shit -- but then they were likely well on their way before they actually got there. But I would take it on a purely case-by-case basis. Not an easy life for some of those old-timers trying to hold on to what once was, having to get used to a world getting smaller and smaller around them, pressing them in, hunting them out. It was a losing battle.

Tina was out of the Tater dog's sister Red Pepper. Her sire was Red Man. I bought all my dogs from Arnie Steinberg and he swore by the Clouse stuff and so did I -- and of course so did Patrick. Patrick and I got into the dogs at the same time, practically in the same neighborhood. He was a damned good and dedicated dogman until, whatever the reasons, it slipped away. I'll always respect him for the young dogman I knew him to be. After that, we moved to different parts of the country and lost touch.

Understood, & yeah it is hard to generalize when dealing with so many idividuals and options or circumstances.

After I posted I thought back on some of those wild tales and thought to myself. It kind of reminds me of hearing generation after generation saying how bad it's getting, by the generation. Yet to me, it actually almost seems like a rerun. With the exception of it being new people, new things, in a newer time.

I apologize for the rambling. It's been a long day and I'm just starting to unwind....lol.

    Welcome back sir.
I've got 2 questions though for starters:
    1. Whom did you find the most interesting dogman?
    2. Who do you consider the most honest dogman?

I would also appreciate if you could answer why in both cases.

I hope you have a longer stay this time.
    Cheers
