You need to breed the dog for working ability and not for conformation/looks. Breeding for the way a dog looks is what has ruined the AKC. Look at the german shepherds, bull terriers, english bulldogs they have winning. These dogs couldnt last a second doing what they did back in the day.

Goat I don't say that, that's why I was asking if it was good. I had a couple people tell me it wasn't their thing that actually owned a couple. So it was brought up in another thread that Toby blood might work with some little gator/chinaman stuff so I was getting another mans opinion on Toby. I never personally seen Toby stuff. So that's it in a nut shell really. Plus, never seen a cross like that on paper really either. But hey, isn't that what the forum is for? Finding out what you don't know and asking or researching? It doesn't work either way for me buddy. If I say what my logic is, then I'm bashed for it being wrong and saying I know it all, if I ask a question to get another mans opinion, then I'm green and don't know crap because I asked. But it's only the same select few who do it over and over and over. Every thread I post on stating my opinion or asking another's opinion I get one of the same squirrels jumping out the tree to throw in some lame comment and ruin the entire thread. I'm not gonna back down to them, not my style. At first I just tried to be cool and let it go, but that didn't work either. So now I just scratch back, that's how I am at heart anyway. But, Goat. I do appreciate you treating me decent and not being a smart a$$$ or really bashing me regardless if you like me or not. Atleast you have some class and maturity and actually worth learning from. well i was just asking . if the toby stuff came from where it started then you should have a good chance . they were known to be gem and good mouths and a nice structure .

Thanks Goat, yea I'm gonna ask my buddy to see the peds on the two Toby dogs he has. See how they are bred and if they stayed true to the blood.

 

Genetics are simple. Like begat's like.
How they are bred is only as good as the ones you have actually seen in the pedigree.
If you want winners ,breed winner -winner. Reguardles of how they win or how they are bred.
As long as you consistently breed on anything the % volume will increase to what it is you specifically breed on.
If will not produce anything that's not already in the genetic pool except hy-breds as the gene pool decreases in volume & tighter on the concentrated % of certain genes.
That's Genetics in a nutshell.

...try breed to good game dogs...simple....don't breed to a winner just cause it has a win...but because off "how it won" and how game it shows,see what it will add to your dogs.......theres winners out there who did'nt/would'nt add fa to your dog's,,..so try and check out what your adding..there's been game loser's out there,,that would add a lot more than some of the ch's out there..........
