Rambo is 10 Weeks old and he is teething, I am wondering how do I get him to realize that he is not supposed to be biting?

When I say biting, I am referring to people, not his toys or other miscellaneous items around the house.

u dnt need to hit these breed...a gud stern no n redirection shuld to the job.if he continues u mite wnna put him in a crate in the room by himself fr a few minutes.this breed luvs human companionship,so that is kind of like a punishment fr them.u dnt want a man bitter on ur hands especaily w/kids round

no with a quick pop on the nose generally does the trick.

ive found that a smack solves about everything with my pup. eating socks? big smack. sniffing the counters, little smack.

This is the advice you need to take. A tap on the nose with a firm no go's a long way.

LOL man this post right here is like saying spanking your kids makes them grow up to be killers or abusers a lil slap never hurt no one if giving a pup a slap and telling him no makes man biters then every damn dog i ever owned should have been a man eater

thats actually the complete opposite anyone should do. crates are NOT used as time out. and soe of these dogs do need a pop once in a while. it doesnt make man biters.

I appreciate all the insight, as for right now, i have a rolled up piece of newspaper that I occasionally give him a pop with which he seems to respond to well to.

Speaking of the smacking, exactly where does everyone smack their pit? I personally rolled up the news paper because I didnt want to hurt him and when i typically hit him it is on his body not his nose.

A light pop on the rear can go a long way; try to avoid swatting them on the nose, it can make them hand shy near the head.

on the nose when pups, when they get older a good pop to the shoulder/rib, seems to sting pretty good lol.

I raised 5 children of whom none has grown to be killers and trust me they all got their share of old fashion spankings .....

My dogs have gotten swatted also, I have a fly swatter that they all hate, most of the time all I have to do is pop the swatter on the table and the loud noise and the firm "NO" is all that is needed....but there has been times they have had their rears swatted.

I will thump/pluck em on the nose when they are pups. they respond to that.

CSOTELO is right aobut the time out. Just not in the crate. You want the pup to feel pos about the crate. So insted time out is just ignorin the pup for a while. takin the playtime is the worse for a pup. Just ignor the lil shit. Good luck
