I've been trying to search for some reputable breeders of chinaman, jeep, redboy lines, but all this blue nose shit keeps popping up. It seems that 19 out of every 20 kennels that come up are all blue lines. Why is it so difficult to find true american pit bull breeders? It seems like every body wants these 100lb Razors edge, grey line, watch dog mutts.

Because that's where the money is.. those searches let you know how truly "rare" the blues are.

Many of the best kennels, IMO, don't advertise;)

I would almost want to change that to "most" instead of "many". ;)

To add to what Rockstar & Mia said...

Breeders of the true APBT want to keep the breed out of the public's grasp and thus don't advertise as much.

OK, I might get flamed here but ... I think the ratio is about half & half.

For example, the Colbys advertise. Mr. Boudreaux advertises. Mr. Clemmons advertised. Sam Cates advertises. Terry Townsend advertises. Tom Garner advertises. Lonzo Pratt advertises. All are greats in the breed & all advertise.

So I don't necessarily think the idea of "the best kennels don't advertise" comment holds true. ;)

ABK, I a'int gonna flame you, and this is just my opinion...

But I do not believe in over-advertising litters for sale or upcoming breedings in which dogs will be sold. A small page dedicated to your dogs accomplishments... That's great, you should be proud. But I'm of the opinion that if you don't know, you shouldn't and the internet isn't going to teach you.

Phew, that is good b/c I do not have my flame-retardant underwear on!! [IMG]

GSD, all the breeders I mentioned w/ the excpetion of one have multi-page sites that list many breedings. Mr. B was the ONLY one who had a one page site & it didn't even list many accomplishments, it was page for contact info to sell dogs.

As for learning, I think you can learn through any medium if you want to. For example, had I had the Internet, I could have learned what my hubby really wanted was an AmBull not an APBT. I could have leanred how to properly house bulldogs (not together!). I could have learned what a breaking stick was & how to use it, as well as how to care for my dogs after a fight. But I had to learn all that the hard way.

To learn the hard way when the info is right there at your fingertips is asinine. Why run into a brick wall to see if it hurts if you have literature from those who have been there & done that can tell you before hand it does?

Now, is there any better way of learning than through a tutoring (mentoring) program? I do not think so. It is always better to learn under a mentor if you can. But not everyone has that opprotunity & to write off Internet, books or other forms of literature as a form of learning is absurd.

Those guys do advertise....with the exception of Floyd now of course. But their are many many many kennels that have spawned off of those with dogs from them but lie low. These are the people I'm speaking of.

Ok I get what you all are saying, but if you do a general search and type in American pit bull breeders, kennels or anything similar. The only thing you will find is all that blue nose stuff. You wont find the quality breeders or blood lines. Most people who are new to american pit bulls wont know better and will probably pay 1500-2000 for a razors edge dog thinking they are getting quality. I'm new to the world of pit bulls but luckily i had a friend who had pits and sold me one of his which is straight chinaman/ frisco blood line. If not for him showing me the way i probably would have gone with one of those hundred pound blue nose since i wouldent have known better. Most people dont know better. I always see on here how everybody thrashes these blue nose pits, but how are people new to the breed supposed to know better then to buy these?

Good point, Vena. People have to start somewhere. And you too ABK. I liked your comments also.
