I am just asking for opinions here in a year I am going to hook up half brother and sister. I am hoping that lightning will strike and I will get a litter full of dogs with the best traits of the two combined. Worse case scenario I think I will get dogs at least with their head screwed on straight. Do members think you can get top notch performers from half brother and half sister matings.

There have definitely been tighter breedings. How tight is the ped behind these dogs already? If you go too tight, you could actually be degrading the line but if you know why you want to do this pairing then go for it.

My opinion is that its fine, you may get a litter full of fire and you may get duds. All you can do is roll the dice and hope for the best.

That is not to close of a breeding, and as far the the dogs go never know its just like any other breeding anything can happen

  4. I have a dog from a full brother sister breeding, one from a son to mother breeding and getting ready to do this breeding

A half brother to half sister is not too tight at all. You can get great dogs off of tight breedings, but you also usually get one or two dogs that get the short end of the gene stick. Just how it works out.

WOW- 50% on the super game zip, and I heard Wargame (Bomber) was quite the little monster. Looks like a killer breeding!

Thanks for the opinions. Both dogs sire is loosely linebred redboy. One dam is an Eli/ alligator cross and the other is a redboy/ carver cross. The gene pool is pretty deep. Doubling up on the sire cause he has produced a fair share solid dogs.

I do however agree with jeepfreak that in-breeding can be over done. The only time a dog should be inbred, is if the dog is a solid game dog. (the only duplications should be the good ones) Too many times it has been done more for convenience. Scatterbred dogs work just as well. The thing to remember inbreeding and outcrossing are just different tools for your desired effect. To me- it's more important to use ROMs and Champions from current fast lane stock in your breeding program (the closer the better)- It just puts the odds in your favor.
