I hear they are horrible guard dogs and are great people dogs.

My 8 1/2 month old SBT shows some signs of being protective. I was walking her in the woods when we came across a man who was either psychotic or high on something. He was laying in a creek bed talking to himself. My pup stood her ground and barked and would not take her eyes off him. She was about 6 months old at the time. She also acts this way in the back yard at times.

  4. My wee staffie would eat you if he seen you enter the garden and he is only 1. When the door gets chapped he never barks but wants a bit of anyone who enters. When I tell him to sit behind me he is great with whoever I bring into the house.

i dont rate staffords as guard dogs, love the breed but their history alone has left them very human friendly despite what the media says about them. there will always be exceptions tho. rottweilers or gsds have a natural tendency to guard. i have a stafford at the minute and hes more than likely to help any intruder to carry the valuables out lol

im the guard dog around here...id sooner meet an intruder with a firearm in their face than a dog any day of the week...leaves a longer lasting impression. badguys carry guns and no dog of mine needs to deal with that.

Our breed does not make good guard dogs ... although exceptions are always possible.

Instead, they can be good personal defense dogs, again if properly prepared and of right character.

My Staff Barks at the door and back gate and when I was attacked she went nuts good job the my partner called her and she came before the coke-heads started having chunks removed.

Any dog that barks will stop most people.

At the end of the day a strong, fierce looking dog snarling and jumping up will do the job in my opinion.
Would you want to chance it?

does any dog stand a chance when the badguy is armed? i say no...no matter how "fierce looking" it is.

dont rely on your dog to stand between you and a scumbag, this is proper home protection...
your dog, my Mini-14, which one would stop you in your tracks?

    Hide behind a dog?

I just like the fact that I can leave car/bike parts in the Garden and that they'll still be there.

If my dog was to bite someone she would be pit down as is the law of the land I live in.
So my dog won't be biting anyone if I can help it.
You don't hand feed a pup for six months and let it get put down cause of some drug taking scum.

I fight my own battles, it just so happened that I was walking my dog at the time.

look dude, the thread is titled HOME PROTECTION, so what the fuck does all that have to do with the topic?

you are the one who said...

and i replied.... your dog isnt cut out for protection so get over it. theres a difference between a watchdog and a protection dog. if youre so worried about your dog being put down for biting someone, then why would you even put it in that position anyway? grow some balls and protect your home, it isnt what your dog was bred to do. and im sorry you dont own guns, but i am a member of britishblade.com and from what ive discussed with members from the UK, the bad guys do, so i guess youre shit outta luck...get baseball bat and a big fucking knife and hope for the best.

i regularly chat with several guys from the other side of the pond and it seems we arent that different...its our lawmakers who are.
everyone, no matter where you live wants to be able to defend themselves from the scumbags, but we havent been completely stripped of our rights... yet.
