I'll smack a dog only if it's neccessary, but it's very rare at my house. The only time as of recent was my 15 month old knows the proper edicate around the kids, and usually he's the best one around them, but for some reason he came out of character with intent on jumping on my 4 yr old. The dog was playing but he knows that there is no jumping so I had to Jack him up just a little so he got the point. He can bullshit around any other time, but there are no exceptions around kids. Been fine ever since

If he's not a house dog I don't want to break his spirit in any way,let him be a bulldog.

  12. the title of this thread should be feed or dont feed. all dogs are needy for attention, food and water.

just deprive them of it......then re-instate it when they fall into line.

    basic prison policy.........withhold privileges, lol!

some folks that have dogs are the needy one in the equation........constantly having to pet them.! get over it, lol!:dogdrink:

  13. ps dont like pups for that same reason.

only keep proven dogs and some are real SOB....but even the kids have the hardest headed bulldog eating out of their hands when they've been in the sun and not fed for 5 days........lol!

food is a mighty big privilege! :dogdrink:

  18. Depends on the offense, the dog, and the age of the dog.

All of mine have had at least one come to jesus moment for things that are absolutely not acceptable in my home. And even with the cat box that claims it's dog proof, the bastards still occasionally find their way into some crunchy delights and get an ass beating. Same for getting into the trash (which they haven't done in ages).

I actually had to be an asshole and start smacking my Rottie way sooner as a pup than I'd have liked to, but the positive reinforcement bullshit did nothing, and a firm whack on the ass got the point across a whole lot faster.

I'm not for hitting, But if they do some thing really bad and you catch them at the moment - a hit can work. Not at the moment of incident though it's just cruel to hit.

  20. i usually push/firmly tap my dogs chest or side for correction but w.e works for you
