water can be used to shut em up some times a friend had a vocal male who had five other bitches on the yard there and he used to get real frustrated[obviously] when they would all go into heat. we just put a sprinkler out of his chain spot reach but could spray all of the area. we set the hose up with his tap out the kitchen window which was about forty meteres away, when ever the dog would get real vocal
his partner could just stick her hand out of the kitchen window crank it up and he would shut up and go lay in his kennel! would save her alot of time instead of leaving the house and walikng he long way out to the yard which was three times as long if she left the house. he shut his mouth pretty quick, musta hated water.


on the training part, i do give a bit of a tap upside of the head, but only when i realy have too as i think if youve got a bond with your dogs they will be just as gutted with a verbal response than a phyisical. shit i had one that used to cringe if i just walked into the vicintity and it knew i was going to serve it, never punished the dog physicaly at all just stern look and a raised voice was allways enough. the same dog would be one who knew whena nd why he was getting it, and would also come and say sorry too me when he knew he stuffed up.

ive seen a friends who was that dumb he says he had to give him aa bit of a touch up, just to get the point across. yelling at a dog like that does jack shit.

personally ive never owned one i can say ever realy needed it. And i think if you spend time with the dog youl have a good enough bond where the dog would be no reason too, they are just as gutted with themselves somes to once they know they made the wrong choice, as they simply dont want to let you down.

 

I ware a dog leg around my neck, and I have a three legged dog that doesn't give me any shit.

 

Ye iv hit my dogs a coupla times but only when they messed up real bad like failed to come back when called and there was a danger to them like a passing car etc but on the whole i find if they do something wrong i just say the "Whats this" and they know to disappear quickly cos i aint happy lol

 

LMMFAO, well i personally might give em a spat on the ass when they are younger along with a stern no and seems as they get older they just learn by the tone of your voice when not to do some shit although i have had a few hard headed dogs that didnt give a shit

 

if my dog doesnt do as its told...n it keeps acting up....i dont mind giving it a slap on the nut or its back end...i aint had to in long while....they usual learn by 1 year old.....unless its barking in kennels...usuausually a rough shout or sum water sorts that out lol...but nothing wrong with correcting a dog physically....just not over board imo...

i have flicked a dog on the nose when attempting to mouth, the dog isnt hand shy. and if i got a dog trying to be a COMPLETE asshole to me, yes i will not hesitate to slap their ass.

i agree i feel its important to show dominance with raisin bulldogs just like kids i mean you dnt kick either ones ass but a small tap on the as an a firm foce lets them know #1 their doing something wrong #2 they dont run shit altho ive seen dudes start off like this then when the dog dose something really really wrong they go ape shit on the thing forgetting its a dog idk its the method i always used never had a dog turn on me works for me

I have been training and competing with my past 3 dogs (Golden Retriever, Husky mix, and Pit Bull mix) in Obedience for the past 12 years and have never had to hit any of my dogs. They have all taken 1st place numerous times at shows and mind me very well any time so I must be doing something right.
