Don't worry about getting me confused with SC (I actually enjoyed the rant, always funny reading PI drama).

My problem was with how you came into a thread where alot of people with alot of experience with bulldogs were giving advice on how to handle this particular problem and then you came in and basically called everyone animal abusers. I guess I just think people without real hands on experience with these dogs should refrain from posting advice.

  3. I think you are reading into this too much. I said there is nothing wrong with physical discipline. The one person I called out was Jelet because he was not simply advising using physical discipline, he advised "stomping the shit out of the dog", which to me means literally beating a dog until it looses control of its bodily functions and is damn close to dying from the severity of the beating. That to me, would be animal abuse. I will personally apologize to Jelet if that was not how severe he meant the beating should be.

There is no need to beat a dog to the brink of death to get your point across. Just because these dogs are tough and enjoy facing death head on in the [] doesn't mean their owner should beat them within an inch of their lives to get them to learn something. That would be like saying in order to teach a MMA fighter anything you have to club him with a steel bat until he gets it right.

Now if I read into Jelet too much and he was talking about simply giving the dog a sound whopping, fine - but to me what he was telling the OP to do was to beat his puppy until it was on the brink of death for growling - not even for a bite.

As a matter of fact, I personally think the OP should combine NILIF with the "jaw shake" technique that someone else posted (picking the pup up under his neck, staring, and giving a good strong shake). Give the dog a good shake, daze him - but don't act like an out of control ape and beat it until it is almost dead, it simply is not needed. If your dog needs to be beaten to the brink of death to behave right, it is probably kinder to just introduce him to a .22 - and it is probably safer for your family, as that dog is a liability.

By the way, I do have experience with these dogs, you don't need to own your own kennel to have hands on experience being around and rearing bulldogs. Like I said before out of respect for my mentor, I would never post his dogs or info about them online. He is the type of person who keeps everything he does off the internet and I respect that old school tight circle mentality. I have also reared other breeds that I consider FAR more complex to raise and far more dominant than an APBT - the Akita is a perfect example, they are the type of breed where if you mess up or don't know how to hold your own you may very well end up with your face missing.

Is the dog really the one should be eating the bullet???

We have standards we keep our dogs by...

but obviously any idiot can not only live and walk among us, they can REPRODUCE and teach their "gifted" offspring how to "properly" raise a 7 month old pup... WTF???

It aint the dogs that need the culling...

What do you value, the life of a cur dog, or your children.

Boss if you aint smart enough to realise keeping a dog that bit you and your CHILDREN in the same house aint a "wise idea", do us all a favor and get a vasectomy...

Good luck to your little ones bro, luckily they have schools now so kids aint entirely dependent on their parents for education.

    Minute

Now in all seriousness. You don't deserve that dog. the moment aggresion issues popped up, if you wern't smart or humble enough to realize you were over your head and go seek professional advice, your not smart or humble enough to own that dog.

You came on an internet forum and asked a bunch of people who you have NO CLUE how qualified they are, to answer your question, AND your taking that advice in bits and peices you like.

SERIOUSLY get rid of the dog, go get some basic obedience and dog handling books, find a BREEDER (and by breeder I mean someone who has a PHONE number, not an ever changing cell or inmate number), talk to him/her about what you want out of a dog, and find one that fits you.

THEN BEFORE YOU EVER PICK THAT PUPPY UP, sign up for a basic obedience class.

Then Maybe, just maybe you wont be too ignorant to own one of these dogs..

    Best of luck Hoss.

How can u say a 7 month old pup is a cur? i dont have the money to sign up for the obedience classes as they are very expensive where i live. you should read that the dog is fine when food is not the matter, he is obedient and friendly around my whole family. i did my research before buying a dog. infact ive raised 3 pups. but this guy was a little food aggressive, for now ive broken this aggression. it was not me, it was children who were teasing him and now this problem is coming to an end following jelets advise. this thread was created as i needed some advise. not for you to tell me i dont deserve my dog. i was looking for answers from dog men who have experienced this problem before and know an exact way to break it. not for you to come tell me i dont deserve my dog. psshhhhhhtt...

your children shouldn't be allowed to be in a situation where they can tease your dog, especially while it's eating. that means either they were being allowed around the dog unsupervised or you allowed them to tease him. Either case is not very wise.

anyway, best of luck to you... hope u can learn from this situation and move on successfully.

I need to leave for work in 5 minutes, So I will respond to the other posts later on.

well there you have it folks'

I am glad that it is working on for you rajennn. The puppy is not mature, so you have hope in correcting the behavior before its "full personality" sets in.

Just keep the kids away from the dog when eating from now on... And have it sit and stay before it eats. And when it eats, put your hand in the bowl, and mess with it while eating. If it growls, remember, beat it with a belt... and then have it sit and stay for 15 minutes.

And when everytime you put your hand in the bowl and when it doesnt growl/bite etc. Take out a piece of meat(table-scraps) or cheese and give it to it, praising it, saying good boy!!!

keep doing this. And problem should be solved..

And after a month. I'd give it a very tasty treat. Like a bully stick. Let it chew at it for 5 minutes. Then try taking it away. And if it growls.. Same thing. Let it know that growl or bite=ass beat.

And also, teach your kids to be very gentle with the dog and not to mess with it while eating. If you catch them messing with the dog, then put the kids in the corner for 30 minutes. Sounds harsh cause they are kids, but it will teach them to not mess with the dog while eating...

And then I'd recommend having the kids after 2 months of no growl. Pet the dog while eating. And have the kids give it a tastey meat( from there hand)

BUT, make sure the kids understand to only pet the dog when you allow them to, when the dogs eating...

    keep it up.

and keep the kids supervised if they are with the dog, so if your busy. put the dog in another room...

  12. If you could read you'd know by now that is not me I am female, so your "insult" fell a little short here. If you care about who I am, I've posted pictures before its pretty easy to know that isn't me.

However, I will say this much - I don't think you are in any position to laugh at anyone else seeing as you just recently had to resort to asking the internet for help because a 7 month old pup was kicking your ass. At least I know first hand the guy in the picture knows how to handle a dog when it gets out of line without having to cry to strangers on the internet because he can't get his 7 month old pup to stop attacking him. :dogdrink:

ok just got back from work.

    rajennn:
I am glad that you are starting to be alpha. This is the plan that I offer to you.(SORRY for repeating myself. But I want to post the "plan" in an organized format)

Step 1 : Keep the children away from the dog when eating(preferably in another room) Have the dog sit before you allow it to eat(with the bowl of food in front of it) When it eats, pet the dog on its back/head praising it(if it doesnt growl or bite you).

Next, put your hand in the bowl and play with its food while its trying to eat. And at this point, if no growling occurs, you take out the table scrap(meat/chicken or cheese) and hand feed it, while praising it.

AT ANY TIME, that the dog growls, push it hard with your foot(the flat part of your foot.. almost as if your stomping on it) and beat it with a belt. AND NO FOOD for the night, or you can feed it an hour later and see if it learned its lesson....

Keep doing this for a month, every time you feed.

Also, please teach your children to treat the dog nice. And dont bother it when its eating. Dont let them unsupervised with the dog. If you catch your children playing with the dog unsupervised or playing rough, you gotta punish them man.

Now. after its done growling at you... You may want to get a very very tasty treat, such as a "bully stick" Have it chewing and try to take it away from it, if it growls. Say No. and beat it(while Ripping the bully stick out of its mouth)

Ok two months later, your dog is acting good... You then tell one of your kids to pet the dog while eating, and have your kid give the dog a nice treat... A mcdonald chicken nugget works.. (if it doesnt growl while the kid pets it) And then tell the kid to put his hands in the food bowl and poke its eye a little . And if it doesnt growl. You tell the kid to give it a 5 piece chicken nugget and cheese burger. While all of you praise the dog.

Note: Only give the dog the fast food once a week when doing this with your kids. On the other days, you give it a table scrap.

And remember: when beating the dog, you gotta be quick. As soon as it growls, you SHOUT, on top of your lunges, using your diaphragm. NO. You hit the wall with your palm or floor. and stomp on the dog. And hit its back or thigh with the belt AS HARD AS YOU CAN.

Dogs are not stupid! It will learn.

    Rajenn,

I didn't expect you to get the humor in my jokes, by your very posts I can see how simple you are.

Case in point, if you dont have the money for obedience classes, you DONT have the money to afford to care for the dog properly. End point, as I've said many times, you dont deserve the dog.

Your arguement simply proves my point. If you did your research, why are you having issues??? Why did you not contact the breeder??? I doubt you did any research besides seeing how big his damn head was as a puppy.

Where are these other 3 dogs you've raised, I don't hear about them in your stories, so I'm going to assume you dont have them any more??? solid guess? Why is that...

You know nothing about training a dog, and it's BLATENTLY obvious from your posts. If what you did was research, WHAT was it you researched???

So you have a Wife, Kids, still live with your Mommy and cant afford dog obedience classes... Sounds like the perfect setting for a dominant/aggresive pitbull.

Best of luck to your children, they are going to need it.

the dog had to be rehomed if u must know, the pups i have raised before were colby dogs and did everything on command by the age of 11 weeks, i rehomed them as i was not interested in keeping one then. you hardly know me and are judging me by this post.. plus i would rather spend the money on him rather than waste it on some obedience class where its likely they will confiscate my dog for being a pitbull. heck.. who the hell are you to question me? you think what you want and assume what you want in that little brain of yours. i did not pick my dog for its head size, my dog is nothing spectacular looks wise, his sire is a ch and a great example of the pitbull. you must've picked that red nose because its got a red nose. stop assuming shit about me when you dont even know me. where the fuck did i say i live with my mum???? fucking retard.
