I am on 2 other pit forums and want to learn all I can about the breed. I think pits get a bad rap and that's another fight that I fight every day. I'm also a moderator on another dog board. I'm not some crazy PETA person. And I don't think so far, that I have bashed anyone. I've expressed my opinion as to duct taping and electrocution.

I feel what ur saying and the only reason i jumped down her throat was because the very first posts she had on this site was sortof bashing on shady. I don't know maybe i misinterpreted it but she just seems like she had bad intentions from the start

the rest of who? Because I find dog fighting disgusting? That makes me bad?

I dont have any bad intentions, but as with any other forum I go on, if I get that "gut" feeling that someone is abusing their animals, I'll check it out. That's it. In the process of learning all I can about breeds, sometimes I do come across people that are really abusing their animals. And I do whatever I can to make sure it's stopped.

No because u think that people train their dogs to fight. U never once thought that the dog might want to fight without anyones help, it just has the desire to fight because thats what it was bred for. anyway just hang around and read a lot and u'll learn a lot of new things from this board.

Okay so you are checking us out because you have a "gut" feeling someone here is abusing their animals?

EDIT*** You added to your original post and cushioned this statement a bit.
If you are here to learn with good intentions, I am afraid you got off to a really shaky start. This forum has A LOT of knowledgeable and good people. Not one animal abuser I know of. These people LOVE their dogs.

I do know that the pit was bred to fight. I get disgusted with the people that force them to do it or the people that do it for 'drug money' or whatever and there are alot of people that are bad and have no compassion for the animal. I'm sure there's some pits that don't want to fight. I know not every pit owner fights their dogs.

    I'll hang around.

I've always been an honest person, so yes. I do have a "gut" feeling.

I just hope your not the animal rights type that goes around thinking you know what is best for everyone else based on your own opinions. You say electrocution and duct tape as if this is a known and widespread practice by every pitbull owner. Sounds to me like you want everybody to think like you do, otherwise they just might be abusive to their animals. Thats why most people are distrusting of you from the start.

    Hi Michele -

I think I have seen you on another forum. The thing you need to remember to communicate with and learn from game dog folks, is not all dogs are pets. Some dogs just like GSDs, Mals, Rotts, Dobes are working dogs. That is what they are bred for and have a natural instinct for. We have quite a few hog doggers on this forum, they do lose dogs to this sport...but that moment when they go out for the hunt is what these animals wait for...they are driven to do their work.....just like a K9 or SAR. If you keep this mind set then communication can happen and understanding can occur, although you may never personally agree. Communication is key, knowledge is power and variety is the spice of life ;)

    Welcome

I normally sit back read and keep my opinions to myself, but I've got to say something. Michelle and Shady I read the post from the other forum as well the misc. ones here about the same thing. I agree to a point with Michelle. Although even though I read what Shady wrote about the electocution thing I do not believe he was seriously saying this is something he practices. People are saying this now after the Off the Chain Video showed it. I believe that was scarcasm. I could be wrong. I also see nothing wrong with using Duct tape for a breeding. What does it do pull the hair off? Not if you do it rite. It wouldnt be worse than a band-aid. (Pull with the hair not against it) The reason I see this as an acceptable practice is because it is not physically harming the animal. It is protecting the human and animals involved. Why bred a dog the will bite in the first place was a point Michelle was trying to make on the other forum? The way I see it not all specimens will want to be bred, but the best of the best should be bred so we will have quality animals in the future. To preserve the breed. Gameness is what these animals were originally bred for and if they are not bred for that my children will not have the same quality of dogs our grandfathers worked so hard to preserve. A truly game dog will not always be dog aggresive, but why take the chance when breeding two quality animals? Better safe than sorry and duct tape could not have hurt the dog. It was a protection for everyone involved. JMO. Michelle the majority of us here would be on your side, but please just take a chance to see that our dogs mean the world to us and we have their best interest at heart. Most people here do not breed or fight our dogs. Please stick around see that your opinion on all of us is wrong. We are animal lovers. Chains and duct tape arent hurting our dogs.

Everyone on this board will agree with this statement. It is cruel to force a dog to fight. Stay around and learn a little. Dogmen did not force dogs to fight, use bait dogs, starve their animals to make them mean and crazy. When dog fighting was legal their were very strict rules. I suggest you learn about the history of the breed and what was acceptable and not. Dog fighting was like what Mixed martial arts is today. The dogs got in perfect shape and competed against each other. During the match the dog always had a right to quit. It was completely up to the dog to continue or not. Alot of people here are defensive of AR people like yourself for a few reasons. The things I mentioned above were made up by the media, PETA, AR etc. Bait dogs were never real. This was a made up term. They also got everybody believing fighting dogs need to be beat, starved, feed gun powder to be made crazy and got everybody believing that chaining a dog is cruel. The dogmen men of old loved their dogs and became bestfriends with them. Some of the greats were housedogs. Also a chain is the safest way besides in the house to keep our breed. I have seen dogs eat through, jump, dig,etc out of the best kennels. Stick around and keep an open mind and maybe you can learn something.

you should be on a drug task force or a neighborhood watch if thats the case!!!! As far as animal abuse I agree with you that those mistreating animals as far as neglect, and human abuse should be punished. I do not agree with taking/stealing completely healthy dogs that are and look well fed and maintained and kill them under the assumption they are being fought because of what they are and how they are secured.

great post and won't even add to it, 'cept to say "hello" Michele.
j/c in regards to your feelings concerning the "chaining issue"?...

  17. Hello all, im new to this forum. My opinion is that people who are enthuists of the breed should be on here . If we ignore people who have no ties to gamedogs they will probably go away. To Michele , you knew coming into this website you would see things written you did not like . So why would you come in ? Obviously to engage in some form of arguement, you will not change 1 dogmans opinion of what they should do with THEIR dog. I think everyone in here knows not feeding a dog is worng. But thanks for telling us all again. On this same tool (internet) you use to disrupt a forum . Use it to buy a book about the breed.
I think 2 hours of reading would help you learn more than 2 hours of back and fourth , agree ? get the point ? you are here to harass bye bye

  18. I dont fight my dogs, but fighting is the history of this breed and is what the dog was bred to do. I am not against it I just dont do it myself. The pit bull was bred to be the ultimate athlete and if the dog didn,t want to fight it wouldn,t. and usually wouldn,t be forced to because it would be impossable to make something do what it didn,t want to do that is for anything.

  19. my sujjetion to you is buy the book fighting for life or the complete gamedog strafford books are good aswell. You need to learn the history of dog fighting before you run a campain against it.

and also go to www.gamedogs.com and it will have those rules and history on that site aswell.

Hello Michele, welcome to the forums. I think it would be wise of you to do a LOT of reading on here before acting on any "gut" instincts of yours. We all love our dogs and that is why we are here. Just keep an open mind and enjoy! ;)
