As good as you say they may be, I would never breed a dog w/o AT LEAST working it and it showing me amazing potential. And if it sounds like us over here's "mind's are made up about blue dogs", it's probably because we're tired of seeing people breed dogs that have not proved anything based on thier color,--- Gameness and ability are color blind! :D

and by the way, this is nothing against your dogs personally or IST's, i LOVE what i've seen of Psycho bred dogs! and good luck with yours!

I know what my dogs are capable of and I know which one was worthy of being bred and as it happens Storms pup has just won her first Ch point as she won an athletic event where she left all these "proven dogs" way way behind :)
Storm was being worked, at athletic events, as a young dog but broke her front leg at a year old, so I stopped doing anything that would further damage her leg, her drive and "Gameness" still remained. To this day Storm being 6 years old, she has still has good drive and tenacity, but its been my choice to keep her quiet.
Rage has been spayed and will obviously not be bred from she has a skin condition, but never-the-less has done great at athletic trials so Im happy she has what it takes.
Kane and Bella have just turned 19 months and are showing great potential and have even been praised by Ed Reid himself, so I know theres good things for them in the future. But if youre asking would I let my dogs "work" as in hunt and kill, no I wouldnt allow it, but im pretty confident they could if I exposed them to that environment.

Please dont confuse me with someone that is another idiot with a blue dog wanting to make money because I spend more money on my dogs than ive ever made.

Well i'm glad the dogs are at least to your expectations, and i'm glad you have the responsible attitude to not breed her due to a genetic condition, and you seem like you put alot of care into your dogs which i of course appreciate. And i never called you an idiot and would not because i dont know you lol, we're just used to alot of them over here lol.

PS What kind of athletic events do you guys participate in?

I know you didnt call me an idiot, but I know, I know some and their reasons for breeding blue dogs.
To be honest I was speaking to a friend who is from Ireland and she did explain what was thought of the blues in Ireland (We're actually hoping to come up to Ireland in March/April to meet some of you dog folk :) )
And I can understand what you see and it's a huge problem here, blue dogs are only looked at for their colour by some people.....I on the other hand would like to show people what theyre capable of and their off spring, they come from good blood so if bred correctly they have huge potential.
At the events here in England, we have A Frame, Weight-pull, Lure racing and Vertical Scale (Vertical wall). One of my Storm's pups managed 47 A Frame overs in 60 secs, the most done to date had been 42 (also by a blue dog), but she did that in front of a crowd at Ed's. So the pups are shining and shes just 19 months. So im proud of what and why I bred.

Well that's great! There are plenty of people who are proud of breedings that shouldn't have ever even been done, If they make you proud then thats great, that's what they should do:D

PS: not to hijack the thread but, if you (Raging) or anyone has any info on Irish Staffords in the US then PM me, i've been very interested lately :D

please do not use words like gameness when talking about dogs performing in things like a frame events, it is just not right.also without seeing your dogs perform in other areas it is impossible to have any huge confidence that they will perform as well or better than some of the other members of the breed that have proven themselves in this field.that said, welcome and good luck with the dogs in what you have chosen to do.

Gameness was a term used by CeaserIsis, hence why it is in "" Speech marks.
Here in England the only legal way to assess a dogs level of drive and tenacity (terms used by me) is by athletic trials (which my dogs are doing well at) and although I appreciate my dogs ancestors had "Gameness" Im not one to test my dogs for it, because does "gameness" have a place in todays society? Is that why kids are being killed because breeders are breeding for "Gameness"? I have bred for high drive and TEMPERAMENT, my dogs are dogs that "work" at athletic trials but can also be safe around children.
    Thanks for the welcome! :)

breeding for gameness = kids getting killed ?
i am not sure i understand what you mean.

I appreciate "Game" dogs had to be human friendly blah blah blah
But if people are breeding "game" dogs and selling them to the general public as pets, are we sure the general public know what and how to channel that "gameness" I think people have made vital errors, when they have raised a "game dog" which has resulted in kids being killed. Im not sure where youre from but in England just a few days ago a 4 year old boy was killed.
My point is im not breeding for "gameness" I have no interest in seeing whether my dogs can roll or hunt and kill, theres no need for it in London funnily enough and its certainly not legal!

Seriously, this thread was just an introduction, but all ive done is try and justify my dogs and actions...........im not the one selling dogs out of my back yard to any old Tom, Dick and Harry, (which are the ones that are the ACTUAL problem) im probably more selective than most when it comes to placing my pups. I've not come on here to boast, expose or deceive anyone. Ive come on here to collate more info and knowledge to help me be a better dog owner but it seems this board is full of people that think that I'm on some sort of espionage mission and on the way im selling blue dogs all over the place.

Wow, this is some welcome! :)

not too sure how you have gotten all this from my asking why breeding for gameness meant dogs would kill kids.
was the dog that killed the 4 year old bred for gameness or are you just making assumptions ? could it merely be a dog bred by some backyard peddlar ?
i know people that breed for gameness and many are among the most discerning as to where their pups end up and also among the best dogmen i have met.
the reason some may have thought you were on an espionage mission is that you raked over some pretty touchy old coals with just about your first post.

  18. Ragingstorm

    Ragingstorm Big Dog

Youre right, it is an assumption that the dog that killed the 4 year old was a game dog, its only been described as a "Pit bull type" but in London I know Game dogs are now bein bred by Back yard pedlar's and being sold to ANYONE. Where the "good dogmen" have sold to someone they may have thought was suitable, those people have now decided to make a business of it.
I didnt realise my first couple posts would cause such a reaction, theres a few lines on that thread that made me laugh so I thought this forum had people with a sense of humour on it, which is always nice. If I was some ar**hole I wouldnt be putting up my real kennel name and pics of my dogs. Gosh is it really that bad out there??

i think you are confusing what gamedogs really are.the garbage these byb's are selling in ldn are certainly not what i would call gamedogs, i have seen enough tv reports to judge what they really are, in the main they are not even purebred.

  20. Ragingstorm

    Ragingstorm Big Dog

Majority are crap x breeds, but theres some real dogs being sold ..... i know ive seen the dogs and where they've come from and you wont see them on the TV thats for sure.
