whats your dogs typical heart rate during maximum stress? its gettin hot and I want to ensure the best condition for my dogs during hunts,(recovery and reboost) aside from all the obvious precautions, Im looking for feedback regarding supplements targeting red cell maintenance, iron etc. also carbs(2nd wind), uses and doses of oils (flax seed, coconut, fish) etc, specifics pls. can anyone fill in the blanks? dmg5000, irondextrose(for pigs), ferrous fumarate, hyaluronic acid, glucosamine n chondrotin

get you a jug of red cell they sell it at feed stores and probably tractor supply has alot of good nutrients and vitamins in it but use it lightly dont get carried away they will also overheat on it, there was a thread about it but hell i didnt feel like looking for it lol but anyway we use it on our horses and now i have tried it with the dogs and seems to be good for them

I've had dogs in shape get their heart rate to 250+ and recover quickly.
you must learn how to work a dog into shape, heart and lungs first.
rest is as important as the actual work.
as far as supplements, red cell does more harm than good in my experience. fat is good, carbs are needed for recovery.
remember, most people overwork their dogs and do more harm than good.
do not work your dog till it gets hot, do not work your dog in the heat of the day (sun).
I never used many supplements, never used steroids.

I am looking for insight on a more advanced level, what has worked for others? Supplements are key to achieving elite athletic supremacy, again, id like to know how someone who classes their skills on this level suggests, beyond the standard data, I am familiar with whats on the market(Im sure most of us are), so what Im gettin at is gonna take a more advanced approach, and more in depth explanation. we know how to condition, when and how long and when not to etc,

Benthere is a very good person to be taking advice from. You don't need that much supplements if you have them on a good diet.

"Supplements are key to achieving elite athletic supremacy"

supplements are a waste of money in my experience.
all you really need is the correct work.
    the correct diet.
    rest.

its simple, so simple in fact most people screw it up.

how about start with a raw diet.
raw beef, like shoulder, chuck roast with all the fat. don't even think of using hamburger.
extra virgin olive oil, salmon oil.
fresh greens, (not spinach) don't even think of using canned (way too much salt)
maybe a carrot (shredded in a food processor with the greens)
maybe a baked yam or sweet potato.

    it ain't rocket science.

a good dogman once told me..
"most of these guys (dogmen) couldn't get lassie to shake hands"

thnx, sounds good n well rounded, but not after the typical good diet, more of an advanced approach with detailed explanation, we gotta step up outta the norm to perform out of the norm, constant level of this amount of stress would be too much, thats why keeps for an example are specified to time amounts. If you feed the same all of the time, Im glad it works well for you, Im just interested in hearing how different things work for different dogs

in my opinion what benthere is saying is the most important... you cant build a brick house out of straw.... i personaly dont worry about the heart rate it could varry from dog to dog and on a good day you might wanna push em a lil harder if they having a bad day dont work em so hard... you shouldnt go by heart rate alone... gs a verry good conditioner ( conditioned gr ch anycapp for 4 of his) said that he watchs the dogs tongue to tell him how much and how hard to work the dog.... if they seem sore or tired rest em the next day.... i personally like a hit type circuit training....like walk 1-2 mile then flirt pole then swim then some hide work then mill (some like to pull weights also, but my dogs pull while walking so thats plenty) then have a four wheeler or bike run em around as im going to station to station... maybe give 1 min rest between sets at beginning of keep then work down to 25-30 seconds... prolly not all in the same day at first but towards the end do all of em... mix it up, work em hard rest em and make sure you dont hurt your dog... dont let a little injury turn into a big one wwatch your dog and learn to read him and his bodies signals.... some people follow a strict keep but as a jiujitsu fighter i know there is no one best way to condition yourself.... its best to mix it up keep yourself and the dog interested.. have fun you try to make it sound like its a perfect science conditioning a dog is an art...

Have you ever trained for a combat sport??, yes its good to know your dogs heart rate and track it so you can determine how much quicker they are recovering.. But I KNOW for 100% that yours mine and either of ors dogs is going to varry from day to day, if you trying to calculate a dogs conditioning like its math(atleast if you dont already know the formula) your going to fuck your dog up. one day my max might not be as high if i were to push myself to "MY MAX" id injure myself i know when to slow down and when to go hard ive learned this through years of training, and you and i will learn what is best for each individual dog if you learn to read the signs your animal gives you.

First id get a blood panel see what the dog could use more or less of... then base a good raw diet around what the dog needs, give em a multivitamain or each vitamin you beleive the dog could use extra of... the oils you mentioned are all good personally id use fish oils(why because dogs would have acess to fish in the wild) glucosamine and chondroitin for joint comfort...I would never give a dog anything with creatin because it cause water retention, which could cause your dog to be too heavy or run hot...or not be used to working with the lesser water once you dry him out for a hunt... personaly id use roids before i used anything that is not a vitamin mineral food or oil, i dont trust it and if i thought my dog needed anything extra(strength recovery wind) i would rather use something that actually works, and if you chose could be completely out of their sytem by the time you hunt your animal.
