    no sweat man.

a lot of your posts are self-serving, and you do tend to argue whichever side will garner more (although not necessarily better/more educational) responses.

and you do drag threads pages beyond what they need to be. the mayfield dogs thread ( Mayfield dogs - Pit Bull Forums ), for one example, and the definition of gameness thread as another ( Should the Game-Dog definition of Game/Gamess be updated? - Pit Bull Forums ), etc.

but you do have good simple logic. not a lot of people do anymore.

i stand by my "private message" to minuteman1979. ;)

I enjoy the true discussion, the insults aint my bag.

The Gyp WAS started IMO, but she refused to start at the night in question. The owner decided to cull based on more than just the gyp:

Her father did almost the same thing. Ran thru stuff and was "game" on some days, yet quit on another (I don’t recall his "full" story to give more detail).

Her grandmother had a similar incident where she failed to start at a show. But then went on to start again that same night after the bet was paid and the other owner was convinced to try it again. She then went roughly an hour and was picked up after having scratched 20+ times...

Her brother, just like the daddy.

EXTREMELY talented and hard mouthed animals. I mean beyond compare. The brother quit in 15 and still FINISHED without ever getting his thing going. Funny thing is they came from a line known for it's talent and gameness more so then it's mouth...

So the owner saw it as a common trait within the strain. Now IMO, the talent and mouth of these animals was not something you see every day, and some people never see in a lifetime. Now I think the culling may have been a mistake on the owner’s part. I think a trial breeding to a dog of "similar" lines, with the "personality" to compete in the big shows, even if the talent was not at the same level, may have produced some dogs with the best of both worlds.

What would it have hurt, if the animals were not sold. If they were kept or placed with a foreknowledge of what the story was. I think this is EXACTLY where genetic redirection may have been a good idea. Was the animal perfect... far from it. Was it game... Well, depends which day you saw her. But talent and mouth wise, she was nearly unmatched. So was the inconsistency something that could have been bred out? There was only one way to find out, and it never happened. But if her offspring had had half the mouth and half the talent withOUT the inconsistency, they would have been GOLD.

To each they're own, but that is exactly my example of where I think genetic redirection could have come in handy, instead of culling.

it ain't going to matter what you'd breed the individual dog to. because you breed to what made the individual dog in question. being in all the family avg was nothing more then rough cur's odds are that's what the dog would produce. sure you can try to bring up the family avg by making a cross, but it don't make any sense to continue to breed a bloodline that can't stand on it's own. sportsman ain't going to waist time trying to build a house on a foundation made of shit.

So how far back into "what made the dog" are you breeding too?

Because the dam to the bitch was game. And produced winners (even one in the same litter who was game)... And another littermate wasn't show quality but was good and game and had the same ability.

And the dogs came from a line known more for it's gameness not it's mouth or being ruff curs. And as posted, the grandam had one of the same "flake outs" only to be calmed down and shown again that night and displayed a reasonable degree of gameness....

So, which of the dogs that made it would you be breeding too? I totally get where your coming from, and don't blame the owner for culling. BUT, I still think some awesome BULLDOGS could have been had from her.

the first 4 generation is where the offspring get the biggest % of there gene. with that being said one must absolutely sure the pedigree is accurate. bloodlines being " known" for certain things is a old wives tale because i seen my share of bingo dogs that could put hole through steel & eli dogs that stay till the cur come out. two fellas in the same town can have the same blood & there yard can be totally different.her grandma, dad, brother all made the same type bad moove that's not just a coincidence that's a sign of the future. lots of first class bulldogs around there ain't no need to cry over spilled milk. if the bloodline ain't doing what it should. it's easy to find a different bloodline that does.

jack said dead game . do you know what that means . it means you can't breed to them anymore . because they are gone . there are dogs that don't like different things and if they don't like them cull them . because you will see it again . and it want fill to good it you are the one holding them .

reason being is because they were nothing more then rough cur dogs. the handler was smart enough to know what they had & moved on. that's why you ain't seen anymore lol. if you like curs that's fine breed them till your blue in the face. MM your post is about a rough cur & you thinking you can get good offspring out of her. not about sending you anything illegal because i ain't involved in anything illegal!

jack said at the start of this post, can you breed for 100% dead game dogs . this can't be done . you want see to many 100% dead game dogs in any breeding or bloodline because dead game is rare . and no family has it you can't find very few dead game dogs . your lucky to see one . and some people have seen more than others . but they have not seen to many true dead game dogs . you can't breed them if they're DG because they are gone .the people that had one lost it or it would'nt be DG .

look if a dog that is started and it want do it's job when they are asked to there is no reason to breed them . i does'nt matter if she or they shut one down in 3 minutes . the dog will do it again and you need to see alot of dogs then you will understand this is a bad trait and they need to be culled . after you've see them for 30+ years then you will know what i'm talking about . they don't need to pass the blood on to any bloodline .
