Guarding certain toys and begging when toys are put up for the night.

Discussion in 'Training & Behavior' started by Selby Hall, Nov 30, 2011.

  1. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or forms I can read for my pit. She guards some of her toys but not all and not from humans, only the cats. If it is a bone with meat or her kong filled peanut butter then she guards it, but she doesn't guard her food, ball, or rope. Also she used her ball and rope like a security blanket. If you take it from her she will just stare at it for hours. I've tried treats and diversion but she just goes back to the ball and continues to stare. Open to any suggestions other then negative reinforcement.

  2. sounds like she just dont want the cats messin with her toys. weird she's not like that toward her food though. if it's buggin you keep the ball away from her. my dad had a rottweiler for 10 year's that had an obsession with tennis ball's. from the time she woke up she would carry them around.
