MCM and Slim need to move to a different state LOL. In Texas it has been proved that we can protect our property with life ending action. C'mon to Texas y'all!

Slim mcm, having a guard dog that only barks and licks his balls is useless, pitbulls bark and they even get stolen!
Most off the time you get ripped by people you met before or even know very well.

it all depends what situation someone lives in, what they could take from you and if its worth protecting, in some states and countries there are no texas laws, plus you can take a dog wherever you want, i rather have them eaten then they be eating my cookies.

Unfortunately where I live especially you probably already know the criminals and pretty much anyone who goes against the grain of a decent society have more rights than we who actually abide by the rules and are productive members of society.

Oh yeah I am not disputing that, Been looking at a few places online but can't decide if I want to move everything out or maybe leave some stuff at my house and live primarily in a different area while still keeping the old house. Just a lot of variables. I like the idea of Texas or possibly Lousiana or Mississippi, Just can't really decide. I was looking at your thread about your ranch and that's right up my alley have some privacy and room for some extra dogs, Judging by your pictures you really do have a beautiful piece of land there for your dogs and to just do what you want on.

I know the state you live in has it's perks but it sure isn't the "land of the free" lol. I know not everybody can pack up and move, I was just kidding really but you are in one of the "not so free" states so if you want more freedom or rights, I would get out of dodge lol. Thank you for the compliments about our place. We like it here but if I hadn't moved to TX, MS or LA would have been great choices also. With those three options, I don't think you could go wrong.

I'd say biggest perk there other than the weather would have to be the girls, Why lie nothing beats going to the beach and watching the California ladies wandering around in their little bikinis. And then in the spring and summer when they wander around all the time in their little shorts and stuff...GOOD GOD haha. Only place that comes close is Miami that I've seen until you go to certain other countries. But a man can't live on scenery alone, So that's why I have been toying with the idea of a move now for about a year. I visit Arizona a lot in fact I am there now actually and have been for a little while but while I do get the impression it is much more free (Open carry that I have actually seen daily, Large pickups running around with massive flags, general mind your own business mentality) I do also fear it is heading the way of California especially in certain areas of say Phoenix for instance. Take Scottsdale for instance, Except for cactus I can not differentiate really from California. Same people wandering around in their little bubble more concerned about "Oh my god let me take a selfie in the middle of the road real quick" so I think down south somewhere is where I'll end up going.

I havent found what i was looking for yet, I started looking in to european dobermanns, some responds on here made me think again about my situation and needs...

Anyone got expirience with them arround children?
Are they trying to test family members?

I rather ask this here then on a doberboard...you guys live with terriers like i do for years, i like to know how you guys look at dobermans as guard, family dog and as a pet and among children

I had a terrific Dobe from Europe. As an ex-member of a working K-9 club I can give you some expensive advice...
when u find a good Dobe, they're GREAT. But that's the hard part. A Shutz 3 trainer / breeder of dobes and GSD once told me u need to go thru 25 Dobes to find a good one. I've had 6 and only 1 was worth feeding. A good dobe bloodline from Europe in my opinion is "Tahi Remi" A Dobe is a very handler sensitive dog, the complete opposite of a Pit. They mature slow and take constant training. If u want a guard dog quick..just buy a Cane Corso. or a Bandog. I had a 147 lb neo Bandog that would take a 225 lb professional agitator right off his feet on forearm bites. and this guy was 225 of muscle, not belly! I've had 3-4 Bandogs and all were great with kids and small dogs. a 147 lb dog doesn't feel threatened by most other animals . I 've had 2 corso s and they were both too HOT to be around children. no, make that 3, I forgot I got rid of one that tried to bite me the first day i got it. But they do make good "guard" dogs ..the key is to get one young to bond with you. The one that tried to bite me was 16 weeks. The others that worked out I got 6/8 weeks. I'd still have one now if it didn't get bit by a copper head. It was 1 of the best all around dogs i owned. If U want info on specific bloodlines of corso or bandog and even GSD Pm me.

Well I forgot to mention, My import dobe was fine with children. They call them "Velcro" dogs for a reason.
the other ones were safe with children also, just not up to snuff on bitework , and prey/fight drive.
if u haven't already. goggle "Leerburg" to gain insite into dog's motivation to guard/protect

Nice Dutch Shepard Dusty Road. I've been taking a liking to Dutch Shepards lately. Does she have formal guard dog training or is it all natural? I have been thinking about getting one for my chicken farm but don't know if Dutch Shepards would be perfect with chickens.

I never really wanted any other breed of dog. I have guns for protection. A APBT that is very leary of strangers in with the chain dogs and any dog raised in the house will usually take well to protecting the den so to speak. I have 2 girls in the house and if anyone came in here uninvited they woukd very much regret their choice. If I had a huge yard maybe I'd look for something that could keep away from the bulldogs yet wander the yard freely to watch for thing a foul.
Don't let people on your yard and you don't have much to worry about. People who steal dogs KNOW YOU HAVE THEM AND WHERE THEY ARE... Pretty simple really.

That's the big thing is dont let just anyone come to your yard and I keep no trespassing signs up amd beware of dog signs.I think I'm sending a clear message that I don't want to be bothered.

I agree that a very tight or closed yard is the best scenario but not all thefts are do to letting others on the yard. In setting where you have neighbors, whether rural or urban, it's not hard for word to travel about someone's belongings. Whether it's the car they drive, clothes they wear, dogs they have etc. People love to be nosy and people love to talk, doesn't mean they are doing harm to you intentionally but unintentionally they could easily be doing it. Cameras, guns, signs, dog that will bite is about all you need to prevent theft. Just my opinion.

Oh yea, I got rid of my guard dog. Just did annoying stuff that I don't think she was going to grow out of. I found her a good home.

thats excactly what is going on in my city people know about another, and its easy to find out iff someones home or not.

AGK talked about guns...they even steal ur guns when ur not at home!!!
Overhere it would be another reason to go in ur house when they know about it.

Anything a thief wants bad enough they will find a way to steal it. Having nosey neighbors isn't always a bad thing, sometimes. Lol

  20. I think if you're a decent at training a dogs you'll have better luck with any breed thats already a guardian breed. I believe the key factor is the individual isn't particularly interested in the other dogs. Australian cattle dogs work in teams and everyone I have met are more than willing to bite me. Plus if there was trouble on the yard i wouldn't be worrying about the other dogs im trying to guard.I only have this guy but I'll be on guard until he masters projectile weaponry. Here's my alarm.
