Any dog can become a good WP dog with proper training and the right drive to do it. One of the best pulldogs I ever met was a mongrel.

Excellent point!!! Not so much the bloodline as the training. Although I'm sure it helps. You give one of the top pulling kennels a so so dog & they'll make an ace out of it guaranteed. My McCoy dog does well.

    Me too.

The very best I ever saw was a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Lots of tremendous raw power in those dogs.

He could pull ANYWHERE, but where I saw him at his best was at a wheels on dirt pull where it snowed and the track got muddy. When the cart wouldn't roll, it got sideways in the mud and he just dragged it that way down the track. He wasn't intimidated by any weather or track condition you could throw at him. HE figured it all out.

My "little" pull dog...(took third overall (three weekends of pulls in the 60lb class) for the APA King of the Rails - North Division this year)

Little Basenji that pulled her heart out.

    And a very stubborn GSD.

No matter the breed, if you work a dog right they'll pull.

Depends on the registry - we pull ADBA, UKC, AADR, APA and IWPA. He's pulled 3200 at a UKC pull and on down - lowest has been around 1300lbs - he typically weighs in between 47lbs and 50lbs. He's getting better as time passes. I'd like to pass some of the top dogs at the KOR East this year in APA, but it's going to take a lot of work - we're still having some difficulties with different track styles - and a prayer for weather under 80 degrees.

  20. My Little pull dog. in the 35 and UNDER class. Jeep/Nigerino
