Giroux bloodline?

Discussion in 'APBT Bloodlines' started by kryptonite, May 15, 2006.

  1. What do people think of this? Is it even a bloodline? I haven't seen anyone talking about them, but I heard they were good bulldogs. Anyone still breeding them? Thanks.

Havent seen many up this way....

  3. The reason I ask is that I read a small article in a book and the guy was saying he loved this guy (Giroux) and the dogs he bred.

Mr. Giroux was a well known and very successful dogman. He lived in Montreal, Canada and raised and bred dogs for about 15 years. He was considered one of the best by many. He owned about as many Ch, G Ch and ROM dogs ,as the amount of years he was in the dogs. He passed in 1982.

You won't find many breeders of this blood as most are in the Quebec mountains. LOL

    Good luck on your search

  5. Well, I live in Minnesota so Quebec isn't that far. If anyone knows of a breeder let me know. Thanks!

the giroux dogs were were predominately corvino to start with...

    Giroux's Pinky

    Giroux's Carlo

and crossed into the maloney stuff from greenwood....

    Greenwood's Our Gal Sunday

produced some of the very best dogs of the times...

some of the blood lingers in some of the dogs of today... but there isn't a lot of it around.

    Ute-Colo's Simone

and the balkan dog, though named after giroux isn't really a dog with much giroux in it. Simone (RIP), however had about as much giroux in her as you will find today.

One of the "best of the best" dogmen IMO....he did it all out of an apartment building he owned and would also farm pups out to his tenents. He was everything great you would want in a dogman....breeder, conditioner and showman!

Without a doubt the best dog that the late Andre Giroux ever owned. Ch. Gunner ROM was the sire of Crenshaw's Ch. Otis ROM and was the foundation stud for Andre's dogs.

A fantastic match dog and producer all in one. Produced Giroux' Ch. Milou, Dinelle's Ch. Bull, and Dinelle's Ch. Honky when bred to Giroux' Red Pinky ROM, who was a pure Corvino bred bitch.

Giroux' was never considered a bloodline. Andre Giroux would find good dogs anywhere he could and he was extremely selective on individuals. Andre never become focused on just one bloodline. He was considered a Top handler, conditioner and match maker. Andre lost testing what most dogmen would have used as foundation. He owned some of the best and beat the rest.

you'll find referance to the name Giroux while researching Corvino, Rebel Kennel's Ch Bubba, Samson, Buster Rom, Boomerang, Bone Crusher and many many more.

James Crenshaw and camp new how to successfully continue to propergate the Giroux linage by keeping a mixture of the old Trahan's Ch Rascal and Carver's Black Widow blood through Ch Gunner over the Tudor stock through either Maloney's Davis or Gr Ch Hank. D Powell purchased one of the best son's of Giroux' Trip, named Ch Rocky that was a dog that won 2 matches in 1 night, back to back. The second was not counted as a legitimate win. Acquired from Andre's wife Lisa was Ch Our Gal Sunday, one of the hardest bitting bitches o modern time, she won all of her matches, never passing 21 mins.

Andre stopped a brother to Brousseau's Ch Ben named Ch Gunner Jr. who was sired by Ch Gunner and out of Girioux' Bonnie in a roll while not fully matured. He matched him anyhow because of his punnishing mouth. Ch Gunner Jr. won 4 and then was used for stud by many Canadian's only to find he threw mostly rough mouthed curs.

Ch Gunner jr. was the dog Andre rolled against his recently purchased aging, retired stud from Patrick, Gr Ch Hank. After 20 mins. with Gunner Jr. , Hank was for sale again and was fortunately purchased by C.A. to be used with success.:dogtongue::dogdrink:

  18. I have the chance to preserve some of the Giroux dogs. I have one (if not the last) daughter direct of Giroux Ch. Booger. And a son of Ch. Coco and a few Ch. Booger/Greenwood bred dogs. I was young and ignorant, learning about new lines and jumping from wagon to another. I wish I could turn back and kick myself in the rear :D. All I had left is now only picture of them as memory now. I was 19 and my first bulldog was a Ch. Booger/Greenwood bred dogs, now that I am older and much wiser now I will keep the line I had now until I can't scratch at all. I will so some outcross once in a while. The daughter of CH. Booger name was Waldman "Dottie" and the son of Ch. Coco name was McManus "Trigger". I also have a Greenwood bitch name Wesley "Topaz Miss Molly" she was bred to McManus Ch. Coco in 1996 two time and never took:(.

Giroux was one of the best of his time.He sure tested his dogs hard.He culled dogs that most would be proud to own.Giroux would match into the best dogmen and dogs and beat them, while traveling to their backyards.I would like to know about his conditioning methods. We all wish we could turn back the hands of time.I to have let many pass by my hands that I wished I knew then what I know now really applies to owners of gamedogs at one time or another.
