Hey guy i just had a quick question and got refered to this site for some help. I have owned APBT's for about 5 years now but i am soon to purchase another pit. Her parents have won shows and this got me interested in starting to show her. Both of my dogs now are very well trained but i just need help on training my pup so she will exceed in shows and not make me look completly stupid.

yup these pups need to be pups, fed well and not worked to hard, to get a dog right a large amount of stress has to be introduced on a regular basis, this will hurt ur pup, but if u want em lookin good feed good food, and shine em up

i agree some short walks (on grass) is all a young pup needs for exercise, and once they reach about 4-6 months i introduce them to the water. i have a real slow running shallow creek that cuts thru some land i own.

no need to work a pup or supplement with anything. like everyone said let the pup be a pup.
play with them and feed well and they will look good, you can mess up their growth working them early on and even health problems can occur.
at the nj show there were some bodybuilder pups there i just laughed and hope that there dogs dont pay the price at the end

  8. I just do daily walks and alot of play time. My pup is not ripped but she places. ;)

Thanks to everyone that replied, i wasnt planning on working the pup to hard but i heard something about stacking( standing at attention) your pup early so when it is showtime that is one thing they have imprinted in their brain and its second nature. The shows i will be attending are the ADBA shows.....

Absolutely right guys! There's NO need to work a pup. good feed and lots of lovin' does the trick for the young guns! And as soon as you attend that show, you'll see why "stacking" isn't very important. In a ring with these dogs, you can barely hear yourself think, much less worry about your dog sitting still. And Ramz, no need to worry about your new girl....she will be a natural!

Ramz, if you're in north alabama, you should try to come to the Alabama Bulldogger's Show in New Market (about 30 north east of Huntsville). You can come enjoy the fun and watch and see what everyone else is doing. That will give you a better idea of what you can expect with your pup later. If you would like more info on the show, check out this thread:
