    Georgia Alert...

    GREAT NEWS:

    I rec'd an update this morning from a GA BSL fighter who attended this mornings meeting. Here is part of the update;

    All of the letter writing and phone calls and exposure and everything else worked. This bill is dead.

    Rep Williams (the author of the bill) was the only one there, none of the other committee members could make. He told us before anything even started that there would nothing breed specific in the bill that he wants to introduce. In fact, (I hope you are all sitting down, and everyone put down your coffee cups for this one) he apologized for offending anyone by even trying to make this a breed specific issue. He said what they want is a bill that will go after all dangerous dogs, & irresponsible owners.
    This is great news, lets hope CA follows suit!!!

    We still need to keep an eye on HB78 to ensure he doesn't try to slip something in, but it seems all is well in GA now. There was press there so it's less likely he will try to pull something later

    Thanks to everyone for contacting the legislators and a special thanks to all the owners who attended last sessions meetings and todays meeting!

    GA HB78 not going to include BSL

    As of today HB78 in the state of GA will no longer be including a BSL. They are now looking for good and effective aggressive dog laws and the ability to enforce them state wide. They will also be looking at a state wide education program on bite prevention and how to act around dogs for the GA school systems. It may also include some restrictions on breeding and spay/neuter, but this is get a handle on the BYB. The good thing is with the intervention of the American Canine Foundation and other dedicated groups it has made a difference. Thanks to all that have and will continue to attend and help mold a workable piece of legislation. To those who think this is all the job of others , get a life.

    HB 78 is not dead but the BSL portion is removed which is great. There were groups represented that have been there since the beginning and yes I believe that the education that the bill sponser has gotten did help. I also believe that they still are not worried about Jamies little Fido, they are interested in the facts. It is unconstitutional, impossible to enforce, expensive, and just will not fix the problem. I am glad that the sponser has an open mind, it is a shame there are not more like him. Want to see some bone heads call Lanett Alabama's Mayor and Chief of Police, like granite stones. After the lawsuit is finished maybe even they will soften to the touch.

  10. HEY EVERYONE, YES THIS MORNINGS MEETING WAS VERY PRODUCTIVE. PEOPLE REALLY BROUGHT VALUABLE INFORMATION TO "COACH" WILLIAMS. I ATTENDED AS WELL.
    HE LET US KNOW THAT NEXT WEEK'S MEETING IS CANCELLED AND SEVERAL PEOPLE VOLUNTEERED TO JOIN HIM ON HIS COMMITEE TO REWRITE THE HB IN A
    DIFFERNT DIRECTION. HE ALSO SAID THE SENATOR ROGERS IS COMING FORWARD WITH A BILL ABOUT THE USE OF DOGS TO CATCH HOGS AND SO FORTH.
    BUT EVERYONE NOT TRYING TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE, BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO LET OUR GUARD DOWN! I THINK WE SHOULD STILL GO TO ALL MEETINGS
    AS SHOULD WE BE THINKING OF BRINGING POSITIVE INFOMATION TO THE PUBLIC.
    THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO KEPT BRINGING UP THE ISSUE THAT PEOPLE NEED TO BE EDUCATED AND WE NEED TO DO THIS.

    A computer and the Internet is pretty much a standard in most newer generation American (among many other nations) families today. Using the Internet for a medium to present the public with information, in the proper way, can affect many different things in the home and heart. One of our main problems is clearness of rules on most member's and staff's part, but we are hopefully about to address that. That, advertisement, along with a few other things is all we need. :)

    Amazing that of the thousands of bully owners in Ga only 20 people can take the time and the money to fight. Things that make you go HMMMMM.
