IMHO, if you're breeding for mouth before gameness, you're breeding to win ($$$) ...instead of breeding to preserve the breed. There's nothing wrong with breeding for mouth as long as it's put second to gameness.

Look @ cracker vs nigger match 2 hard mouth dog that went a long time. Imo just because they have mouth does not mean they are not game ;)

I think gameness is more important but some people breed for the job they need done. Everyone breeds for their own specific reason weather its gameness, mouth, color, size, or width of a dog. I personally rather have a dog that was game till the end rather then a dog that did a ton of damage but eventually cur'ed out. JMO

Breed your game dogs.PERIOD!!! Then you'll get your exceptional wind, wrestling, intelligence , and mouth. Keep gameness first. If you don't, it WILL show up sooner or later. As far as "mouth" is concerned, The ones who bit hard in the box, bit hard because they "wanted" to. Once the gameness goes you lose the "want to" and it's a downhill slide from there. Too many breeding 10 min curs cause he can "bite". Once the going gets rough or fatigue sets in in the hunt, the cur's mind will change from "The wrath of Hell is upon you!!!" to "Papa, where's the door it's gettin hot in here".:D

Again just because a dog has alot of mouth dont mean the dog is not game. If you do your homework you can have both an thats the best bulldog .....POINT BLANK

That's what I'm tryin to tell em. Breed your GAME dogs and you'll get your mouth. Breed strictly for mouth and you're going backwards fast. Good posts ohpitbulls.:)

Gameness is the hardest trait to keep and the easiest to lose in a breeding program. So Gameness is and always should be the first thing you breed for.

what good is a hard mouth if its jumping the wall in 20 minutes?

i look for these 3 qualities in this order

    1. Game

    2. Skill

    3. Mouth

If you're gonna run into one of those killing machines (tudors spike) you better bring more than just a game dog.or you will have piles of those ole game plugs.gameness with ABILITY and average mouth is the key. And on the other hand i've heard people say that bring the gamest ones that you've got so i can kill it. and they made a name doing so. so i guess it's BREED WHAT YOU NEED.

I am very serious all you guys saying whats the point of having a dog bite for 20minutes then quit LOL u think you keep the ones that do that. Or do u think all the dogs you got have mouth but have all quit and you keep em. NOOO the ones you got have mouth and have never had to show their gameness. I dunno if they go three hours, but either could the opponent at the end. So all that game talk doesnt matter when u got a flat tire and a broken axle, cuz the only way u goin home is with a tow. You act as if all hard mouth dogs are currs. Why breed to a curr?????? Do u think people actually breed to currs for mouth??? plenty that arent currs. Anyways me new here, but all u game-dog.com hall of famers how many honest dogmen are on here talkin bout shit?????? might get some better answers talkin to the real...

imo a hard mouth is useless if it cant get a hold on the likes of a good defensive dog.....so it needs to have a decent amount of style and gameness....tho a hard mouth dog thet gets holds regularly will test an opponents gameness more than any other....a nice mix of it all is what we would all want im sure.....:)
