I've always been a bulldog lover, I've always had respect for the gamecock but I've never owned any or been associated with them. However Saturday last weekend afternoon I got out of a vehicle I just bought from my Wife and standing about three feet behind me was just beautiful gamecock. To be honest it scared me a little bit, what I just said hey buddy and as I walked towards my front door he started to follow me. so I got some hay and some stuff I have for my dog houses and made him out a little bit and got him a pan and put some spinach carrots and birdseed apana water and he still with me today. I named him MayRay... I'm going to the feed and seed store today and wagener South Carolina to get the right stuff to feed him and all
Any suggestions on care would be appreciated Thank you , & God bless 20190304_213044.png 20190304_172506.jpg

Well u can put em on a tie out too but its just that everything eats chicken ..so a coop will help stop something from getting to him .find him a nice lil hen and youll have chicks in no time

I have a rooster bred down out of a Big Red strain. I had hens that were Sweaters and Murphy hatches. I bred the hens and then turned them loose. One or two flew down into a chain space. I had one that will walk to the dog's bowl and grab a piece of food and then jump back. She played that game for a few weeks and then mis-timed her jump.

My conclusion is the game dogs and game birds for the most part do dumb shit.

Now that the bulldogs are used to seeing the gamecock they just accept him as part of the group... I haven't went to Wagener yet to get a pair of hens. I must say, I like him.. I named him MayRay, or HeyHey...

I've always wanted one but feel my neighbors would probably call someone on me if I got one. Would probably make my dogs bark a lot more too everytime they saw it.

Like any other animal take it slow.

And if you do get popped with the spur clean it to no end. Antiseptic out the ying yang. I got a new rooster a couple of years ago and he was not happy I was touching 'his' hens and he flogged the shit out of me. Stabbed me in the leg. Like a dumb ass, I wiped it off and continued what I was doing and cleaned it much later in the day.

The infection and swelling was really bad. It took forever to heal and left a nice little battle wound.

Thinking about it afterwards the thing walks around in chicken shit all day and I am sure he gave me a chicken shit injection.
