Has there been any champs or dogs worth mention who have been the result of a frozen semen breeding?

can i ask you with you not going wild . and it's not me being a smart ass . i just wondering why it would matter . because it's froozen does'nt make it not as good as coming from the stud . it has to be breed to a good bitch . you can keep a good line going with something frooze off a good males from the line . i've seen it happen . they just don't want to tell .

Yeah OG, the reason I started this thread is because I have a friend who will possibly be buying a straw off a pretty well known dead dog. I was having a conversation with another friend about it and he said "there's never been a Champ off a frozen semen breeding".........I knew that couldn't be right cause if it never worked people wouldn't do it. Unless it was just for the papers. But I didn't know of any off hand to correct him, and I don't know anyone personally who has used straws so I thought I'd ask. I've also heard it said that males seem to produce smaller litters the older they get and not produce as well. I'm thinking some of this may be true, but some is old wives tales. Just a subject thatade me curious. Personally I would rather stick to a natural breeding. I've have been told since that frozen breedings have been very successful in places where good dogs are harder to come by.

i use froozen , and get good litters off old males . but when they are colleceted the male needs to be in good health . you can take a 9 year old and if he has'nt been breed in a while he will have low sperm count . but get him healthy and he can produce good litters . i got 7 pups from a breeding that was 30% mobile . but i've been using froozen for 21 years so i know alittle .

Good info y'all, thanks. I appreciate it. Old goat, 7 from 30% is extremely good numbers. My father In law breeds show labs and has had terrible luck with frozen breedings. And he's paid out the ass and drove 4 hrs to the best vet around to have it done.

i alway have them cut the bitch open and put it straight to there ovaries . bred 11 year old bitch with semen froozen 18 years before i used it . and got 7 pups . it all depends on the bitches eggs .

There probably arent going to be as many Ch's for a few reasons.
    1. Frozen breedings are used sparingly. There aren't near as many dogs produced a year by frozen compared to regular breedings. The litters are smaller, the chances of getting pups is smaller as well.
    2. If you had a son of Jeep in 2010 would you really risk losing him 3 times? If he is good enough to win one and is a bulldog, why risk losing him 3 times?
    3. The costs of doing a frozen breeding is not cheap, especially if you have to buy the semen. If you were looking for a showdog you could buy one a lot cheaper than producing one via frozen breeding...

That makes a lot of sense Noble. A heck of a lot of sense.

oldgoat- How much does the surgical procedure cost? I hear that is the only way to go if you want a high chance of the gyp taking.

it cost around $475 to implant . and they do have large litters . i've seen pics at the vet with 16-21 pups from frozen . the bitch needs to be fertile . the semen is already good they know the count . smallest litter i had was 7 . they risk 3 because their dogmen and that is there job . 1 time freezing the male if he has a good count can be 4-5 breedings . well you can try what you like . for damn sure you can produce better showdogs with your own stock if you have the right stuff .

the reason there are not many ch's off frozen semen is because its impossible to get a ch in every litter, plus seriously what make the female being implanted worthy of using the semen on. i personally would only spend the cash on the whole process if i had a ch or grch female everything less you were just scared to take out or she is not match quality.
if you are not willing to take out the female you spent sooo much money on frozen semen then what makes you think that you would do right by the offsprings. these are just my thoughts and of course we are talking about a long time ago when matching dogs was legal:D

That was an answer to the question. Besides, "the majority" of people are to lazy to show their dog at all, much less 3 times!
I agree with you oldgoat, my stock should produce better. Thats b/c I am feeding it and I know what it produces. This gyp is the only jeep dog I have on the yard and my money is good right now so I am all for investing in the Mechanic semen. This will hopefully set me up for a good cross into my Redman dogs in the future.
This is the breeding we are planning on getting done.
MECHANIC/JACKIE Jackie is all that and a bag of chips. She just dropped us 12 pups so I would love to be able to drop 12 pups in this litter. Her sister also just dropped 12 pups, so I believe it to be more than just a coincidence... I figure this breeding should produce us more than a few good dogs...
