The popularity and the appearance of easy money has ruined a lot more things than dogs.

I have a shot of TG blood in some of my dogs from a guy who worked the yard at Bulldog Hill for a number of years. He is one of the guys that MADE the dogs that TG is selling stuff off of now.

I think TG is a frikkin business genius. He should set up an infomercial on finding a target audience, having what they WANT, WHEN they want it and in turn finding exactly how much they will pay to satisfy their WANTS. Every time he goes up in price there is a boat load of dudes willing to pay understanding the left over high dollar puppies can be price dropped to the next lower tier of buyers and they too are sold. Sort of like the 'reduced for quick sale' in the meat department. LOL.

Ask people when they got their first dog and how long have they actively fed a bunch of bulldogs. The number of years will most always be low. And for every 20 year card carrying member there will be 100 or more one to two year 'in and outs' because it is just not what it was cracked up to be.

Very few, very few actually make money in the dogs. Do the math like was posted earlier and it is not a lot of money to be had. I got my first dog in like 79 or 80. Did a 6 year military stint with no 'dogs' but used that time to meet others in whatever area I was stationed and then back into the dogs when I got out. If I had a dollar an hour for all the shit I have raked, pens I cleaned, watering and feeding, playing and working I would not being pulling the 12 hour shift I am about to pull tonight. LOL.

And never forget when you lose a big event you are going to rethink
That yard when you get back from the road trip. All the money that was saved
Borrowed, rent or morgage money, light. I done seen it just about all when the big
L comes along. Thats when a quick fire sell comes, and that next prize hound
That your boy was eyeing is now sold to him in order to recoupe, and recover. Im pretty sure more can add to this list

Hell that's whats ruining our whole Govt. and the country I love!! These buzzards get in Washington get on the Special Interest dole after A term or two there salary is chump change compared to what they make from Special Interest and 90% of the bills they sponsor or vote against are designed to help the average American!!! Just look at the Supreme Court ruling on DARK MONEY!!! I could be A Muslim Cleric, or some top level ISIS dude and funnel money through A Super Pac to support candidates that are sympathetic to there cause! The HUGE problem is the average American only knows what they are told on CORPOATE news! Most of it is all BS. they are successfully distracting the average person with bullshiit issues! DONT GET ME STARTED!!!! LOL

This is really true. I have seen a guy go on a 6-8-10 winning streak with the same family of dogs. Be on top of the world. Catch that first L in a long time and it is a monetary loss but he comes home and skull drags what is left in order to prevent another L. And a couple of the ones that hold up are sold to recoup what was lost in the L. Sort of like losing once on Saturday, ruining a few on Sunday as a knee jerk reaction, and then selling what would start the next streak to regain lost $$$$.

It is almost like losing two more times after the first one.

After my purchase of the PPB. TG's yard is at the top of my to do list. I've talk to him about it. My buddy who's been to the yard says he did a phenomenal job and it's an A+ operation. I wouldn't mind partnering with honest dogmen on that!

If I'm working someones dog I don't do it for free. If I'm housing someones dog rarely will I do it for free. My time is worth something. Would I have dogs even if I didn't make money from them? Sure I like dogs, most people who own animals do so as a luxury. But smiles and hugs don't keep my lights on and money makes the world go round.

Didn't tg just take carvers business plan and throw it on Mexican supplements? Sell any dog to anyone for the right price....

Also t.g. isn't selling the Mexican lot as a way to get a business partner he's trying to get out from under it. It's been sitting empty with no dogs for awhile.... he doesn't need a business partner he needs someone to buy his spread so he can be on to the next thing... man has more money than hell spend and is the most talked abo it breeder around. Surely he can handle things without a business partner lol

I choose to work 70 hours a week and not pursue glory in dogs,as much as i'd like to, because I like getting paid and I make good money. Nothing hurts more than spending all that time and effort it takes to have your dreams crushed, especially when you were so damn sure.

That's why before 1976, if I thought I had A good one, I'd match it cheap! Pre keep, and condition like I was betting the ranch! Give the dog every opportunity to win! I don't believe in rolling A dog to death!!! If there over 24 mo. closer to 28 and I've bumped them 10 min. easy 15 min. A little harder and MAYBE another 10-15 min. and I see what I like then I'll open them up for A cheap $500, you start hammering on A dog to find out if he's game, you take A little bit each time away! Since every dog is different you can find out how to work him and what it takes to get them in optimal shape. It's A win, win if you have seen a lot of matches you know what to look for! The average pit dog only has so much pit time during his life! Back then there were a lot of different angles to making money without selling dogs! If you were with A group new the dog side action could build your bankroll! But then again I'm A degenerate gambler! LOL

The test is just one time. I know but then who cares if your gambler you could break him. Different strokes for different folks.

Some people people would rather use that pit time on matches, some use it testing. Some test harder than others before laying a bet. Some that are more concerned with breeding a dog may want to see more than needed for matching a dog. It's always different strokes for different folks, because no one is the same in these dogs. Everyone has a different purpose for having these dogs, weather we feel it's honest or not. I think that no matter the reason it should better the dogs, the breeder, the matcher nor the gambler wants to see worse dogs produced. So even though we will always not fully understand the motives that are different from our own, I don't think any one in the dogs wants to see them decline.
I can use by example that four generations(human) my family got into dogs for money. My great granddaddy had birds and started in dogs not long after the depression. My granddaddy had and kept dogs and birds and worked them because that's what he was taught to do. But he worked and it wasn't all about money. My uncle's kept it going awhile because they liked to match dogs. They didn't breed much and none stayed in dogs more than ten years.
I started in dogs young, but decided to stay because it's tradition in our family and if I don't it will end with me. So in one family every generation has had dogs but all for different reasons. So I Geuss what I'm saying is be careful starting out just for the money, cause the bug might bite you!

Our only true mission is to better the breed through conformation, gameness list goes on but as we take part in our own selfish desires they pay. Like Slim said its not just this were going to ruin with this behavior.

I don't think we will better the breed thru conformation

Yeah but if hes good at the conform then it might be better for him to parform because like if he carries himself nice no crooked this or that and rounded backs. What i mean is we go back and take out all the weakness from different parts we could end end up with the Ultimate but thats alot of work and patience will never happen half way through somone will say to hell with it i want money. But fore sur conformation could help a little in terms of good structure it will be easier for dog to do job.

This has been proven not to be true though. Basically what you are suggesting is that lesser quality pit dogs should be bred if they conform better. Say if two dogs were matched and one was perfect confirmation and the other had numerous confirmation problems, the one with the problems wins.... who's more worthy to be bred?
